Glenn’s show gave me chills. I feel if we can band together we can do anything, including bringing back the values and principles that seem to be lacking in our world today. The same values and principles that I taught my two sons.

Thank you, Glenn, for doing this. If we do something to bring about change, we can stop feeling so pessimistic about our economy and government.

This country was developed on the principles and values of people who fought long and hard to remove themselves from the enslavement of their governments who were taxing them for reasons of their own selfish greed. I see that this long forgotten history has made an about face on those of us who have used the excuses that we are too busy to get involved.

The answer to your question is "YES". With the will of the people behind us and a part of us, we can all get America back to the country we love. I would also like to thank Glenn for putting on his show and getting proud Americans to stand up and be counted. Glen.I was a christian-liberal until 911……something changed in my core beliefs and I did not understand how I left that way of thinking so completely and became the christian-canservative that I am today………now there are millions of us coming out of the closet…….When we were watching Obama preach views we could identify with…..BEFORE 911 CHANGED US……..it was scary…I dont view my government as the fix for my failures (I can fail or succeed , it's up to me)..and I dont cheer on the government to persecute success and achievement….it will do me no good ………..GOD HELP US…

I have a comment to make.
I do not feel that during this time of economic unrest that we should see the President of the United States on the Tonight Show. How is it he has time to travel across the country when he should be working on the issues at hand for the country? Is this really presidental?

If the President doesn't want to tackel the economy maybe he could deal with the teachers and pay them what they're worth. How many professions do you know of where the members of that job have to pay for their own schooling to stay up with the latest trends and practices? How many jobs do you know of where the members pay anywhere from $500 to $2500 a year to benefit the people the work with,( in this case their students)? What other profession do you know of where the memebers work 11.5 hours a day for $31,000 per year? That is what a beginning teacher does in their first couple of years of teaching. Is it any wonder why teachers leave the profession after 5 years? We need to rethink our priorities America!

"WE THE PEOPLE"not we the congress. The founding fathers wanted (term limits) so that citizens would be cycled through the government. I am 65 and have observed that the rookies in congress do the most good. A recent example is when NEWT GINGRICH led rookies in the early 90's to balance the budget among other things. These same rookies evolved into career politicians and became part of the problem in this last decade. Everyone has a favorite congressman so term limits is easily opposed through personal interist. And the congress we have now would campaign very hard to prevent it. But without term limits I see less and less FREEDOM in our future. Career politiciansare like dictators, they think they know better than "WE THE PEOPLE"

We the people are we the Congress.We elect them and for good or bad are our representatives.Remember the GOP Congressman from GA who said Hannity and Limbaugh don't understand ranting and raving on a talk show is not the same as actually writing legislation and making it become law with all sorts of different opinions from both political parties.Well he had to grovel back to Limbaugh for forgivness.But what he said is true and term limits would be worse because then all elected members would have to rely on entrenched staffers and lobbyists for experience.Complaining is easy governing is hard.

Linda, your not along in the way you feel. I feel that it was inappropriate for the president to be on a talk show. This country has so many problems domestic, and foreign, that at this time it was reckless. Each time i turn on the television and see the number of casualties, it is alarming. Our troops are far away from their homes and families while people over here are losing their homes, and jobs. again men and woman are giving their lives, while congress, and senate is pointing fingers at who did what, and the amount of money they can spend. The president is busy flying around and showing up on a talk show. The average American {which are millions} just want a home, a job, and peace of mind "domestic, and foreign". Dad lied about his age and joined the Coast Guard at the age of 16. My son and I had the privilege of taking him to see the WWII Memorial in DC. As we lingered at the Freedom Wall, I could see tears in his eyes and his lip quivered as memories of May 3, 1944 came rushing back. At 0118 that morning the USS Menges DE-320 was 15 miles behind the convoy off the coast of Algiers, chasing down a radar contact, when they were hit by an acoustic torpedo from a German U-boat. The torpedoes were designed to hone in on the ships propellers. The explosion was so violent the aft third of the ship was destroyed with 31 shipmates killed and 25 wounded. One of his best friends was on the stern manning the depth charges when he saw the torpedo coming in. Someone heard him yell "Torpedo astern! Torpedo astern!" His body was never recovered. Dad was blown out of his gun turret and landed on the deck below causing injuries that still cause him problems today. He was 17 years old. The experiences our fathers endured for freedom is why we call them "The Greatest Generation". Because of their sacrifice, most of us can only imagine the horrors of war today. Yet shamefully, some treat it as trivial.

Stop paying farmers not to plant. Use food as a leverage against other nations. { Let feed our nation first}.

Simon, Our founding fathers were very intelligent, but to see our nation in this kind of mess is not what they has invisioned. Missliles being used, Planes running through buildings, drug , and Gun smugglers fight to cross over, and back again. Guns have been going across the Mexican border for generations. Guns are a two sided coin. In our Constitution, we have the right to bear arms, but when guns get into the wrong hands, and cause such destruction, , then there is no answer for the question. Laws are made so that "we the people" can be protected, but someone that wants a gun and use it illegally, is doing so. Angus, I know that Houchuck does not understand it, but I watched a plant close in my area and move to Mexico. Many people had worked at that plant for years, then found themselves out of work,and retirement. He is a blast from the past. "Preston Tucker" He had invisioned a dream of building the finest car on the road, only run up against the Big Three automobile Manufacturers, and a powerful senator. He did build his fleet of cars, and were better then anything that was on the road., Now the Three big Manufacturers are whinning that they need billions of dolllars to stay afloat. The gun issue is separate to the problem of a media driven attempt by the "Right Wing" media to divide Americans based on overblown and artificially amplified differences of opinion. The fact we have forgotten all of us are indeed, American has been by the design of a multinational effort to profit from our naivety and we should be ashamed we fell for it.
Our blindness has been the fuel for private corporate agenda, profiteering from fear by an unending supply of unethical and greed based industries. The subterfuge gets almost mythical in proportions considering the artificial hatred for fellow countrymen who's dissimilar cultures, appearances and spiritual beliefs are repeatedly demonized and negatively streotyped to empower the illusion of being statements of fact.
The "Right Wing" media repeats its barrage on a list of attack points it maintains better than any ad agency ever conceived to this date, placating it's listeners with words "grass roots" and anthem songs about "freedom" and "love of country" enforcing a sense of consensus, mildly insinuating the biggest myth of the whole charade, that those "other" Americans don't love their country as much, respect the flag or have relatives enlisted in the military dying for their country like they do.
This makes discouraging the search for any kind of truth, logic or compromise easier to dismiss as motivated by an agenda created by those "other Americans",
who deserve nothing less than a sort of, "in place" banishment of any group or individual, who becomes an "un-American", an enemy, bent on destroying, even killing the "Real" America and it's lone, patriotic followers, entitled to be afraid of everything but it's own thin directives. The only problem with actively demonizing the rest of the U.S., is eventually cooler heads will figure out the ruse and expose its hollow motivations if it's followers are allowed to examine the content too long.
Thats the time for an emergency "Call To Action" has to come into play, to further muddy the water and the manipulations hidden therein and what time better than the very crisis they themselves created almost completely on their own. Seeing an opportunity for an assumption of being the underdog by being an ousted and "powerless" minority, the myth of not only being blameless but actually maligned victims is repeated and even accompanied by the shameless effort to switch the blame to the opposition.
And yes, by your definition, I am a Liberal and if it makes it easier for you, I accept that limited classification.
Truth be told, I'm an American with a bit too idealistic view of accountability, duty to my country and love of all the reasons we are still the model by which others set goals to. I'm adding corrections to adjust to a future where, if asked to prove what I believe being an American is, even by a fellow countrymen in opposition, I will answer with the pride and determination that is expected of anyone born of this legacy.
Just to state, all of my life, I have concerned myself with the motivations of ALL media when it comes to the definition of truth or it's intent. I grew up in a time where there use to be numerous voices, unbiased by agenda and concerned with nothing but relaying facts as accurately as possible. The assumption was, at the time that his country's untied direction and it's people's well being where a given and in the forefront of us all, without doubt. If there was doubt, you could voice it. Slowly, the effectiveness of the media to turn affect opinion regardless of truth, justice, or (forgive me for using a cliche',) the American way and it was always caught after the fact.
But I have never witnessed ANYTHING like this extended attempt at control the "Right Wing" media has managed to perpetuate without significant interruption or incarceration for so long.
They have begun to sound almost insane with power and they sadly think they can pull this Barnum Bailey act forever. When the good people their screwing with while pretending to be closer to them than the man next to them finally realize the talking head is just that and they're surrounded by friends, family and countrymen willing to stand with them, for better or worse, with roots as deep as they're own, then we can rid all our hides of the parasites we all picked up by sitting in front of a screen full of them for too long.

Adam, I tried to take in all that you wrote. I do think we have a problem with the Media. There use to be a time when just the facts were told, but now it is way out there. This country has never been perfect, but it is the close that we will ever see. Strange as it sounds, this country can be greater then it has ever been, but the Liberals, conseratives, democrates, republicans, left wing, right wing will have to come together, or this country will fall. The Constitutuion was written with this in mind, but it appears that our government has more on its mind then a piece of paper that was signed by a couple of farmers that believed that liberty was worth the fight, and that each person had the freedom to agree, or disagree with the Government. It makes no sense to me that we are fight in Iraq to help with their democracy, while we are losing ours.

recent tv show what we need is a "peoples party", a party we can trust and depend on. for sixty years i sat on

i know that illegal immigration is an issue, and i believe a serious one. A year ago i finally had surgery to remove a 7lb tumor in my stomach, but it took me four years before help arrived. I finally had to go through the system, all while i witness illegal immigrates getting the treatment they were entitled to. I could not get insurance due to pre-exsisiting condition. I am an american citizen by birth and heritage, and yet i felt like i was being discriminated, because i was an american. i have witness this with my on eyes. What is wrong with our politicans? If illegal immigrates want to be an American,then become an american by getting their citizenship. Our politicans have insurance, and all the comfort that most american people do not have, so why do they care what or how the american people feel. If they lived on minimal wage, paycheck, to paycheck,maybe their views would be different. If you disagree with me,keep in mine one thing , if you happen to get sick one day, and need help, and do not have any medical insurance, you can bet you will go through the system, and you will have to wait behind illegal immigrates

I agree with the replies I have received. My major concern is \”In WHAT WAY can we fight that invites that lingering and vast SILENT majority to also speak up?\”. It just seems like noone wants to get involved until it hits their pocketbook, and then it's too late. Glenn, our country has been out of reach from the constitution for nearly a 100 years, but it is time to bring this country back into the basic ideas that our founding fathers left in the Declaration of Independence. I suppose they thought that after they were long gone that our predecessor's would respect what cost so many , to obtain. The constitution is the document that everyone from liberals to democrats, republicans and left wing , right wing, depend on when it serves their needs. It should be acknowledged at all times, and not used to put in stupid bills,or allow politicians and a president to walk all over it.There was a good reason that this document was written, and not to be ignored .I have been told all my life that , " never disrespect our elders', and take what they say with pride , and know and understand their knowledge, because it will guide you one day. Well our founding fathers were our elders, and we need to speak out, because it has been their wisdom that has guided this country for so many years/ sometimes CHANGE is not always for the better.

These are the basic ideas that our Founding Fathers had in mine. in the 1600's a man Bacan started fighting for the right that laws should be changed to make life easier from the governor that was appointed by the English King. Life was very difficult during those times as well. It was a hundred years later 1776 that this country won it's Independence from England. When you read the constitution, you'll see why people fought for Liberty. I hear today we need global unity, but i say that yes we need trade, but we are not global.People in power want to change what our founding fathers fought so hard to obtain. When you blog your opinion, and thoughts you are exercising your constitutional fundamental right. I see our basic principals being taking away more and more.
