Notes From A Tea Party Participant

By Bobbi85710
No Tea Party is Small

No Tea Party is too Small

I am proud to be a Patriotic American after the Historic Tea Party protest of 4/15/2009 across the country. I am currently living in the small town of Benton, Arkansas. We had a Tea Party. It was grand and right at the Post Office as tax payers were sending off their payments. Can you picture all the support we received! Horns honked, people waved and cheered support.

There was no town or city’s event that was too small. All stood for the greater good of America. People of different means, parties, ages, religions, and races came together to protest the outrageous government spending and reassigning of taxes resting upon every American’s shoulders and their descendants’ shoulders.

Although the majority of the Main Stream Media largely ignored the event as “not worthy”, FOX news kept updates going for this Historic turnout in as many cities and towns as possible.

Thank-you FOX, you are Patriotic -

Another source of powerful insight and alliance has been Canada Free Press -

and they have provided a picture gallery -

Thank-you to Canada. The USA has a useless tool in our MSM.

Other good sources of completed Tea Party events and statistics are located here:

I know there are more sources out there still finalizing and tabulating the counts. Current estimates put the count of participants over the 1,000,000 mark.

And a special Thank-you to Michelle Malkin for keeping so many facts real.

From time to time I will pick at the keyboard and keep you informed of current activities during our “change”.  We can make a difference for the better. Tea Party because you care!

Movements are funny things. They are almost living breathing organisms, that must be nurtured continually, especially in the beginning to grow. Hopefully the organizers of the first of the many (hopefully) protests and gatherings we will have, will keep the momentum going with coffees, potlucks, thinktanks, letter writing events and other forms of civil disobedience to make it known we are still alive. As an activist in the 70's, I know that the blogs are akin to the underground newspapers we had back then, and will help keep it going. I would say many smaller gatherings, including the Memorial Day one before a BIG one on July 4th.

2

I agree. I remember in the 70's taking a stand.

You have to believe in something greater than the sum of 1 !

The "Me" days today need to change to the "We" Days of tomorrow.

3

Every city, every state should have a monthly Tea Party.
Washington needs to UNDERSTAND – We The People
are NOT going away!

As Patrick Henry wrote .. The Constitution is NOT an instrument for the
government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the PEOPLE
to RESTRAIN the government.

4

I think we should hold a nationwide "Memorial" service on Memorial Day. Let's honor our vets on their day, not protest on it. July 4th, Independence Day is the perfect day to show how we feel.

5

Thanks Janet, you are correct. Wonder when the current administration will embrace this fact?

6

I believe we are – here in my community to keep participants aware of the issues. Jumperj check with your local community!

HEADS UP GUYS THE CORRUPT ARE AT IT AGAIN
H. J. Res. 5:
111th CongressThis is a joint resolutions (H.J.Res. or S.J.Res.) in the U.S. Congress. Joint resolutions serve two purposes. First, they are used exactly as bills to enact law, generally for limited matters. Used this way, they must be passed by both the House and Senate and must be signed by the President before becoming law. Joint resolutions are also used to propose amendments to the Constitution. Used this way, they must be passed by both the House and Senate and be ratified by three-quarters of the states, but do not require the signature of the President, to become a part of the Constitution.
Bill numbers restart from 1 every two years. Each two-year cycle is called a session of Congress. This bill was created in the 111th Congress, in 2009-2010.
The titles of bills are written by the bill's sponsor and are a part of the legislation itself. GovTrack does not editorialize bill summaries.
