Iowa Family Policy Center (ifpc.org), fighting for Sustainable Families
ByOn June 20, 2009, while touring their headquarters, I had the honor of meeting dedicated members of the Iowa Family Policy Center (referred to as IFPC throughout the remainder of this article), which is a nonprofit and includes a 501(c)3, a 501(c)4 and a PAC (political action committee for research, education, lobbying and direct candidate support organizations – committed to strengthening the family. While interviewing Tom Steen, Chief Operating Officer, he told me their goal is to reignite the value and durability of family and family operations in Iowa.
Recently they have been concentrating their efforts on heading up a campaign to allow Iowans to vote on a constitutional amendment reaffirming the definition of marriage in Iowa. An important step in this campaign has involved a voluntary work force to call Iowans and ask them to take a brief survey about their views on marriage. The calls are random in an effort to get an honest understanding of how Iowans feel about some of the latest events on that front. (If you receive one of these calls, please take a few moments from your busy schedule to help answer a few short questions.) These phone calls are being done by a volunteer work force that needs you to volunteer your time to help place the many calls needed to get the surveys filled out. You can learn more about the great work they are doing by visiting ifpc.org or Let Us Vote Iowa .org.
Tom also stated another part of the goals of IFPC involves the building of sustainable families through government and civic affairs (politics), marriage, education, and a free market economy. Building sustainable families is important not only to Iowans, but all Americans. IFPC is also affiliated with Dr. James Dobson’s Focus on the Family, of which there are more than 35 state affiliates.
