The Immigration Divide and This Chick I knew in Middle School

To clarify, when I use the term “Chick” I really mean to say “Female American.”
With that resolved, it’s time to fix yet another issue with a story of my own.
Growing up in California I had a friend for many years until we both went to the same Middle School and got all sorts of screwed up over this girl named “Susan.”
It’s your typical story of “Boy meets Girl”, “No, I met her first”, “Who cares, she likes me better”, “Yeah, right I’m the one she wants”….
Throw in a healthy dose of teenage hormones and you get a falling out among friends.
We didn’t talk for a few years, which wasn’t difficult given I’d moved out of state, and we later started hanging out again when I moved back for college.
Things were cool and “Susan” never came up as a subject. And then one day she randomly called looking to catch up after so many years and next thing you know the Cold War was on without missing a beat.
The foundation our friendship was rebuilt on proved to be no stronger than basil wood in a hurricane and things deteriorated yet again and we haven’t spoken in years.
Now, friends from childhood don’t always end up to be friends in adulthood, but “Susan” proved to be the major dividing issue.
I tell you this, because this is very similar to the immigration debate that’s going to be reemerging its ugly head soon.
And it’s likely to create a large fracture through a relatively united coalition of libertarians, conservatives, republicans, and conservative democrats that are vital to derailing the current mega government’s power grab.
Lesson Learned #1: Ignoring problems and just assuming they’ll go away is a recipe for disaster.
-Immigration has to be figured out now before the heat gets turned up on this issue in the next few months to avoid the afore mentioned fracturing.
Lesson Learned #2: Neither of us ended up with “Susan” in the end meaning we fought ultimately over nothing.
-Neither “The Wall” or “Amnesty” are the solution, otherwise the debate wouldn’t be so furious.
The solution therefore is to stop with the DEFENSIVE plans of Walls, Amnesty, Mass Deportation, etc. and go on the OFFENSIVE to solve the root cause of the immigration problem which is Mexico’s horrendous economy.
As it stands, every major industry in Mexico from oil to telecommunications is stagnantly under performing due to the fact they are each run as a monopoly divided amongst a half dozen of very powerful families South of the Border.
If the U.S. were to use its leverage to break up these obstructive groups, it would open the flood gates to competition which in turn opens the doors to job creation.
More jobs in Mexico means less of a need to head North, dramatically slowing illegal immigration.
For those currently in this country without proper documentation, a keen eye for entrepreneurial opportunity fueled with their bank roll of U.S. Dollars and experience in capitalism here in the States will return many illegals to their native soil in search of fortune and fame.
This is a solution where everybody wins. Suddenly, those calling for “Amnesty” become the insensitive ones for not wanting to see Mexico lifted to its true potential.
And this is how we finally put this issue to bed once and for all. I’m sure “Susan” would approve.

Susan must have been hot, at the time! Border/immigration problem. Your solution of bolstering the Mexican economy seems a good idea, as only a small part of the soultion. First the American economy is in the crapper so the amout of aid we can give them is small. If it keep getting worse, maybe THEY will help us! Second, we must get a handle of the illegals. I thnk we should at the least id them, rounding them up will be difficult. We id them and the ones with clean records that are the real folks wanting to work and better themselves, we let stay but on the path to citizenship and they DON'T get 1st in line. The ones that have committed crimes, they get deported. Next we STOP the illegal flow into the country via fence on BOTH borders. Once done, and only AFTER being fenced, do we resume influx of visas and citizenship apps. There is no simple solution but doing nothing is not an option. I would hate to see a nuke go off in a U.S. city via a porus border or illegal alien.
I'm only 29, so "Susan" is probably still pretty smoking hot.
Obviously, we need to follow through with some of the defensive measures you mentioned above, but it's important to have an offensive strategy like the one outlined above as the long term goal that fixes the issue instead of always playing "Whack-A-Mole"
As for the economy in the crapper, I've got future article posts on fixing that coming up for both manufacturing and housing. Stay tuned………………………
