Opponents of health insurance reform may find the truth a little inconvenient, but as our second president famously said, “facts are stubborn things.”Scary chain emails and videos are starting to percolate on the internet, breathlessly claiming, for example, to “uncover” the truth about the President’s health insurance reform positions.
In this video, Linda Douglass, the communications director for the White House’s Health Reform Office, addresses one example that makes it look like the President intends to “eliminate” private coverage, when the reality couldn’t be further from the truth.
For the record, the President has consistently said that if you like your insurance plan, your doctor, or both, you will be able to keep them. He has even proposed eight consumer protections relating specifically to the health insurance industry.
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

I reported my 85-year old Republican mother to flag@whitehouse.gov and asked them to "straighten her out". She said she was against euthanasia for the elderly in lieu of costly medical treatment.

The health care bill with the public option will pass and pass easily. The conservatives have until Sept 15th to come up with any new ideas and after that we are going to use some neat little procedural manuvers to force this to a straight up or down vote in the Senate. 51% will carry the day (and we dems have that easily). Getting it through the house will be even easier, and then of course on to the President for his signature. While you may not like it, that is the way it is. This is a democracy and the majority has spoken. We the People want this public health care option and by God we will have it!

Please show me "We the People" who want this public health care option. Please!!!! Everyone I talk to, and ALL are "We the People," that is residents of Florida and registered voters, say they do NOT want a public health care option, NOR do "We the People" want a government program like the proposed bill out of the house. "We the People" certainly do NOT want a single payer health care system. This is still a democracy, you are right, but the majority have NOT spoken the way you say we have. Glad you are a Dem, and you're right, I don't like this and I certainly do not like the way you Dems are cramming this and everything else down the throats of "We the People."

don't forget the murder of the elderly, mentally ill & physically handicapped; of which I belong to all three. "O" said how great Dutch care was…where they kill people like me.
HR3200 also reminds me of how the National Socialists in Germany murdered all of us, saying 'we have lives unworthy of life'.

I can't believe how pathetic the democrats are. Do they think they can sell the American people anything they say. They are such idiots. I don't know how they got elected, but I don't think the American people will make the same mistake Obama is so unprincipled it is very, very scary. Those who believe in lies and decite then you got what you deserved. I don't know how anyone can accept our rights being taken away from us. This is America and we have freedom of choice. Maybe those democrats should read the Delecration of Independence to refresh their memory what America is all about.

I am encouraged more and more by the number of Democrats who supported Obama that are now regretting that decision a great deal. Many of them have commented that they had no idea he was going to be as radical as he is…especially at this point in his presidency! I have "lifelong Democrat" family members who are truly afraid of what the Democrats are doing to this country. For all of you naysayers…Common Sense will ride again like a trojan horse…keep fighting for AMERICA!

My 95 year old mother has voted Democratic her entire life. She is a member of AARP. She is now realizing what Obama is up to, that AARP is complicit in this and the Democratic party is not who they say they are. I have been trying to convert her since the 1980's. It took Obamacare for her to finally see the light.

I refer you to the 2008 election in which this was a major issue. We the People are the majority. You only represent a small minority. That is also reflected in the make up of Congress where conservatives hold only small minorities in each House.

You are confused! Winning an election does not give someone the right to do whatever they please. "We the People" must continue to hold them accountable throughout their entire term of office not just at election time. It's our responsibility if we want to continue as a free people.

Every single Republican in congress recently voted against the largest tax cut in history. We Democrats easily passed it anyway with out a single Republican vote. We Democrats support the People. The Republicans support only the very richest Americans (10%).

With God on our side (he's not just part of an "old English/American saying" to us), let's see where you are after Obama screws up your majority. It won't be long. Oh yes. Slapped and laid I believe. When I buy oil to heat my home I will do a little victory dance.
I work in the office of a steel foundry. This is the most insidious tax possible, expecially when we stand on YEARS of natural gas.
And, I just came off a month of furlough. I make less than 70k per year.
My father was a dairy farmer for 30 years, he would not join a coop because it depended on govt. money. And I worked for land o lakes for 23 years.
What you really need to do is stop lying to the truly poor in this nation and enslaving people with your helpfulness.
