Mike Ross-D Arkansas Avoids Populated Town Hall Meetings

By Bobbi85710

Congressman Mike Ross D-Arkansas

Just on the heels of the strangest attempt to squelch an any uproar from concerned citizens by holding an event in Arkansas Children’s Hospital for a Town Hall/Health Care Forum yesterday-

http://www.the-912-project.com/health-care/2009/08/06/mike-ross-d-and-vic-snyder-d-deal-with-manufactured-right-wing-extemists/

-Mike Ross has found a novel way around seriously populated town hall meetings and angry so called, mobs. Using the Telephone for two meetings and a carefully placed (almost hidden) live event announcement. While this does keep Ross from directly facing his opposition, it does allow for a greater number of people to call in and let their opinions be heard.

The article titled “Ross Announces August Telephone Town Halls on Health Care” was released today on TMCnet Healthcare Technology site http://healthcare.tmcnet.com/news/2009/08/06/4312078.htm

And what I find amazing is that this public announcement did not reveal that there is one more “Live” event scheduled unless you continued on and visited Mike Ross’ site listed at the very end of the TMC article.

“…Because of the overwhelming attention on this critically important issue, I will be hosting a district-wide town hall forum at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia on Friday, August 14 at 2:00 p.m. CDT and two district-wide telephone town hall forums on Thursday, August 13 and Thursday, August 27 both at 7:10 p.m. CDT.  These town hall forums allow me to communicate with my constituents from across the 29 counties and 150 towns that make up Arkansas’s Fourth Congressional District…”

I just wanted to make sure that we have some real transparency in Arkansas. Because if you can’t take the heat, there’s always Retreat!

Hummm…I attended the round table invitation event at St. Josephs Hostp…Last Friday…
I am not a Democrat, he DIDN"T SKIRT ANY QUESTIONS….he was one who was instramental in postponing the so called vote on the purposal until after the summer break, to have feed back from the constituates..
Call him what ever you like…we have to have medical care reform, or every tax cent will by 2040 go towards medicare and those type programs….then we won't have any $$$ for anything else..
ALL MUST PAY SOME …by a graduating scale, whatever..
The hysteria, is politically motivated, not sticking to the issue of health care reform..
Is there fear, some of Obama's, policies just may work? I think maybe that is the root core of the issue..

Bzzzbye well I was at Children's Hospital & he skirted every issue with his cohort Vic Snyder. And his press releases are remarkably. But his message is still the same. He was bothered to even have to address the crowd, so I don't know what you are viewing. Check out his voting record, is it in your best interest? Is it in Arkansans best interests? Is it in Americans best interests? No. Time for him to look for another job or back to his pharmacy which will make a rocking buck on the hold for RXs that will delay going generic. Yeah, that's right, I know of what I speak.

OK so we may need some healthcare revision, but not the way the government is going about it. As always the government gets involved and you have stacks of paper and a list of gotchas that no one knew about. Trust the government to do it right I don't think so. Oh, and if you don't think they will euthanize older people, look at the attitude of the baby in the womb. Yea, trust me! NO NO No. What is it you don't understand Mr & Mrs Congressperson? We are not a mob, you won't listen to us you have proved that, so what is left but to shout at you and tell you what you don't want to hear, except party line. GET SOME BACKBONE AND STAND UP FOR AMERICAL.

I have a serious love/hate relationship with protestors…it is every American's right to question authority, to make your voice heard, and to protest peacefully, but for goodness sake, have a decent argument. At least the Obama administration is trying something, rather than just let the GARGANTUAN medical companies squeeze and bleed every red cent from our pockets like the Bush administration did. 8 years with barely a whisper of health care reform, and a great big role of duct tape wrapped around anyone who mentioned a true "national healthcare system". I'm all for it. All for stopping those who think they need an MRI every week, or have to have 30 different medications becuase they are a little stressed out, or opt for surgery for their 110 year old grandparents just because medicare will cover it. Medical costs/expenditures are out of control, and unless we get a grasp on it, no one will be able to afford health care except for that elusive top 1%.

Have you guys noticed that the economy is recovering? That all the efforts put into to stopping the horrible slide that went unchecked for the last 10 years are showing signs of turning it around? We're not having another great depression because of this administrations actions, and it really wouldn't hurt to maybe throw a little trust their way and let them continue to do a great job.

10

I work in steel. I just came back from a month plantwide closing. I am woking because CHINA is ordering material from Australian mines. Half of our staff and hourly folks will never be back in any kind of near term. During the horrible slide, we were turning down business.
That being said, I agree with some of the crap that happens, but much of the testing is because of TORT. And on glaring Omission in the propsal is TORT REFORM. I am sick of the attorneys and their pals in congress running the show. For the last 30 years plus. And when I get home tonight , there will be the dinner hour commercials telling you how much money you deserve for that failed fartectomy. It is rediculous.

11

Everyday people. Care for some more kool aid NA?

Proud American

I'm really not sure where they are coming up with this recovering economy. Best guess is it has something directly to do with the cash for clunkers and it is only a temporary bubble. Just about every REAL economist has continued to forecast a large economic crash than what we have seen so far.

In my line of work I see the economy from several points of the country and it has not begun to recover.
