AARP Meeting in Dallas on August 4, 2009, Speaker Walks Out on Meeting

By

All over America AARP members are walking away from the organization due to leaders of the group continuing to try to convince members that supporting President Obama’s National Health Care Reform plan is will benefit them.

Not all members of AARP agree think that such a program will benefit senior citizens, as expressed in the video taken during an AARP town hall meeting in Dallas (see video below). Pay close attention to the lady at the 4:41 point and her analysis of why health care costs have skyrocketed over the past 10-20 yrs. She explains that there might actually be some comparisons between the out of control costs and the explosion of illegal immigrants in the United States.

AARP Town Hall Meeting on Health Care – Dallas, August 4, 2009

Oddly, the Glenn Beck Show on FOX News had AARP spokesman, David Certner on that same night. During the interview, David repeatedly tried to explain the benefits of the Health Care Reform bill as proposed by lawmakers. As you might expect, Glenn saw right through the sales pitch and provided his own detailed information of the negative effects that this Bill would have on our senior citizen population.

Senior citizens, With a group like AARP looking out for you and your well being, who really needs enemies. I’m not going to tell you to cancel your membership, but I will tell you that I know many who have done just that. And, if I were old enough to be a member, I would have NO interest in supporting them with my membership dues. What’s even more important than the dues is the numbers game. They use the large numbers of their membership to influence laws (as mentioned by David during Beck’s interview), some of which might not have your best interests in mind.

I quit AARP about 18 months ago because of their policies, not
doing what is best for the older people

  2. news across says:

Uh so your trained disruptors attacked an AARP meeting…and your point is…?

    • The people at that meeting were never trained for this. It's those who support your side of the battle who are bussed into events with someone instructing them on what to do and getting them all pepped up for the attack. Once again, you are lost in your ideas and continue to fall for the lies that your Liberal buddies keep telling you.

Oh my God 912,,,more conservative double-speak!! Are you boys still using Rove's handbook? You will never get any votes doing that lol lol lol…

Glenn "censorship" Beck…lol lol lol…got his rear handed to him by the AARP!

I just called in a cancelled mine and my wife’s memberships to AARP. One thing you all who are cancelling should do. Make sure and tell them you want a pro-rated REFUND of you dues that are pre-paid. I am getting a whopping $23.00 back. But, I would rather have that in my bank account than in AARP’s. Besides 60,000 time $23 comes up to: $1,380,000.00
Perhaps that will make AARP think twice about who they get in bed with.

Glad you put that in about getting my money as well. I was going to write that off to lesson learned. I had just joined last year and bit on a two year membership. I will be sure to tell them I am outta here. Once again people in $500 shoes walk around the capital and help plan the demise of the people they are supposed to be helping. And they aren't even smart enough to be ashamed of themselves.

  5. news across says:

    Michael,

My wife and I read your comment and immediately joined AARP. We are proud that the AARP is doing the right thing and trying to get decent, affordable health care access for all Americans.

    • Kimberly1988 says:

Decent, affordable health care…what a joke! American citizens are fed up with AARP & it's starting to show. Do you really believe that AARP is offering decent affordable healthcare? You are living in a dream world-one that Obama created. You are sadly mistaken if you believe all Americans are going to get QUALITY healthcare. Wise up & get a clue.

Ignore NA, he'd say he is married to bin laden if he thought it would get a rise.
Here's one, my mother cannot get a cream for a wound that will not heal (she is diabetic) and to buy a small tube is $750.
But, medicare will pay to send here to the wound clinic every other day where they will apply the same cream.
Yesiree, they sure as hell know how to manage my dollars. Looks like the healthcare union has their grubby paws on this already. Or they are just your standard freaking stupid gov. employee.
I go with c, both of the above.

  6. truthe says:

You are so full of it.
Michael, I had a 2 year membership. I finally ponied up and cancelled. I want to use the $29 to send NA something nice. I think we are off on the wrong foot and I want to start fresh.
I know! A copy of Common Sense.
