President’s Weekly Address, Economy and Health Care Reform, on Saturday August 8, 2009
ByPresident Barack Obama’s weekly address begins by downplaying the loss of a mere 247,000 jobs in the month of July.
On Friday, we received better news than we expected about the state of our economy. We learned that we lost 247,000 jobs in July – some 200,000 fewer jobs lost than in June, and far fewer than the nearly 700,000 a month we were losing at the beginning of the year.
He continues on with his usual discussion on rebuilding America with his ideas of already failed concepts. When I say failed concepts, I mean the exact same socialistic concepts that have or are currently failing in many countries and are currently under massive reform.
Still, this month’s jobs numbers are a sign that we’ve begun to put the brakes on this recession and that the worst may be behind us. But we must do more than rescue our economy from this immediate crisis; we must rebuild it stronger than before.
As he continues on, he begins addressing the Health Care Reform issue that has so many Americans, young and old, up in arms about the Government controlling 1/6 of the United States economy. He is sure to add the names of some large organizations currently supporting this reform. My thoughts are, if you are a member of any of these organizations and they are standing for something you DON’T believe in, let them know or even consider removing yourself from their membership ranks to help them get the point.
The AARP supports reform because of the better care it will offer seniors. And the American Nurses Association and the American Medical Association, which represent the millions of nurses and doctors who know our health care system best, support reform, as well.
As the President continues, he spins the opposition of his National Health Care Reform as being driven with misleading information by those who don’t want to see this takeover take place. Well, Mr. President, from the town hall videos I’ve seen, the questions and issues I’ve seen being asked are from information taken directly from the Bills they’ve been reading. What I hear you saying is that you don’t like an America that is more informed than your uninformed lawmakers.
As we draw close to finalizing – and passing – real health insurance reform, the defenders of the status quo and political point-scorers in Washington are growing fiercer in their opposition. In recent days and weeks, some have been using misleading information to defeat what they know is the best chance of reform we have ever had.
President Obama continues to state his case with his constantly repeated rhetoric. Sorry sir, but you just keep on fighting back on these few issues and these issues have been taken directly from Bill’s that are currently being considered. As to the issue about this reform not being about Government takeover of our health care. With all due respect, that is a flat out lie! You and others have been documented as admitting that this is the first step in a single payer system. Out of respect for the top position in this great nation, please honor it (if you can) with the respect that position is due and tell Americans the truth not rhetoric.
So, let me explain what reform will mean for you. And let me start by dispelling the outlandish rumors that reform will promote euthanasia, cut Medicaid, or bring about a government takeover of health care. That’s simply not true. This isn’t about putting government in charge of your health insurance; it’s about putting you in charge of your health insurance. Under the reforms we seek, if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan. So, let me explain what reform will mean for you. A short response from me: The truth is that most American’s believe that health care reform is indeed needed. The problem arises when you interject special interest needs and socialist ideas into a country founded upon the idea of freedoms. You are use to good hearted Americans and their families being busy with their everyday lives and not taking interest in politics as usual. Now that these same people have taken interest and are taking it upon themselves to be informed, you and those who put you into power, don’t have a clue how to work with the old politics as usual since the since the take your medicine and deal with it is no longer working. Lawmakers might as well get use to the uprising of citizens taking interest and being informed. I, for one, would like to personally thank you for getting myself and the millions of other proud, patriotic, and conservative Americans to wake up and take a stand for what is right. And your socialist ideas are not what is right for America! You can slant the word conservative all you want. The fact is that both Democrats (Not liberally hijacked democrats) and Republicans can and are conservative.

Weekly Address: Necessary Reform, Absurd Attacks
As to the issue of calling out of your dogs, SEIU Union thugs and your ACORN members. Before the position of the President of the United States is completely disrespected by such behavior. I think it would be wise to call off these thugs to prevent more events from taking place like the ones in St. Louis, MO and Tampa, FL. Hostile intimidations tactics will work against you, and your agendas, and will even build a greater level support from Americans when it is fully exposed where these marching orders came from.

Go check out the NPR story from the AM edition today (and if there's a radio version with the "commentary" to be heard, click on it!). They're saying our display of discontent / outrage on this issue is being "orchestrated" (er – residual, subcomment = "partly orchestrated") ! I left a comment and I hope you and your readers will go in and comment there, as well. It's at http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=111...

I find it hard to believe the doctors are going for this with no tort reform.
The government would be selling out them with lawsuits. When it is the government
at fault for not letting the doctors do there job.

My husband & I receive our insurance from his oil drilling company(there aren't many left in the U.S.). We are scared to death that if this health care reform passes we will lose our excellent insurance provided by his company. We have heard countless stories about people from Canada who waited months for treatment-some unfortunately passed away waiting for their care. How,can we as Americans, stand for this? We don't want gov't controlled healthcare! It seems this presidential administration wants to take over every aspect of our lives! They send Hillary Clinton from country to country apologizing for the U.S.-why don't they apologize to Americans for the way they are swindling us out of our tax dollars! Americans-stand up & say NO to gov't run healthcare-it would be a disaster!
