Senator Claire McCaskill – D and Her Mommy at a Town Hall

By

Senator Claire McCaskill and Her Mother held a Town Hall Meeting on Health Care in Hillsboro, Missouri on August 8, 2009.  I think it is important to note that although I don’t agree with McCaskill’s politics or her support for the proposed Health Care Reform, she is to be commended for actually holding a public town hall meeting when so many representatives are either refusing to hold town hall meetings or they are choosing to hide behind a phone instead of confronting their constituents.

She also used the phrase “I don’t want to use my mother’s voice” and then she did just that as if she was talking down on her constituents attending the Town Hall & she later apologized for doing just that on her twitter account…

I’ve watched some of todays public forum, and I think at times I sounded condescending. My apologies for that.

Sen. McCaskill to Town Hall: “Do You All Think You’re Persuading People When You Shout Out”

You know it’s a rare event for a Democratic office holder to tackle a Town Hall when the country is opposed to the Health Care Bill. But bringing your mom, threatening to leave, and antagonizing the collective group of constituents in attendance in a condescending manner, although apologizing later on Twitter, shows signs of job fatigue. I’m just saying…..  This might be a good time to look into another line of work before the next election.
