A Letter of Concern to President Obama from a Prior Supporter

By

A reader, and prior supporter of President Obama, sent this letter to me with a request to publish it. Upon reading his letter, I realized that it shows a strong trend that is happening all across the nation. So many people were desperately looking for a window of hope for America and tricked into believing that he was the true opportunity to achieve it. We are all aware of the political divides that have taken place over the past several years and the negative impacts that these divides have caused for America as a whole.

It should be quite clear by now that the issues are not so much whether you are a Republican or Democrat. The issues are with all of our Representatives and whether they are doing their job of representing their constituents or are they more concerned with keeping their special interest lobbyist friends happy?

The 912 Project was built on these concerns. Not concerns about just what the President is doing or what his Democrat friends are doing, but about the whole political environment that has separated itself from the people for which it was meant to support.

Please take a moment to read the letter below to get an understanding of how a Democrat has found himself enlightened about the current political environment as he expresses his concerns to the President.

Mr President:

As a Democrat, Viet Nam Vet, and retired American; I was impressed by your rise to the office of President in these trying times. My hope was for a new vision and direction of the America I love. Just as your background was a mixture of culture and ethnicity; I prayed for the hope that we would finally see the dream of Martin Luther King come true. A new America based on the “content of one’s character”. You seemed to stymie those who would bring race into the mix and stayed focused on the goal. The stature of your image, family and focus was powerful enough to change a nation.

In politics there is always a cloak of deception. We, as Americans, know this all to well. Your presentation skills seemed to rise above this and many recognized the greater picture, the need for demonstrating unity in our land. Politics aside, the need to fulfill the American ideal of equality for all drew millions to the polls. The vote was strong, the message was equality. Many that voted against you did so out of fear of your political agenda, not your ethnicity or to take a racial stand. The visual effect for hope was cast upon the world. America was truly the land of the free.

Today, as I observe your path, the cloak is opening ever wider. Your policies and agendas are not what I fear, we have a balance of power in this land and it will prevail. The American voter will shift Congress back to balance in the coming elections. No the fear I have is the swing of the pendulum. Many see equality as a leaver for power. The Bigots of the past used this with fear to keep the status quo. Gradually the pendulum moved toward equality and in 2008 the people opened their hearts and received the gift of truth; today the pendulum is continuing to slice and the power is consuming you.

Last night, you gave a speech to the Congressional Black Caucus. I listened with an open mind, hoping for words of unity and change. I got a view behind the cloak. I am now in fear of your path. In one hand you hold the key for change, in the other the weapon to destroy unity. Last night you chose to use the weapon. You shot down Mr. Kings dream and built a wall of distrust in it’s place.

Your message to America? Now We have the Power, now we are in charge. Now we will transform America into a society submissive to our wishes. Shame on you sir. You have destroyed the progress of thousands of blacks before you. You are the nightmare in the dream and America will move further back on the pendulum of change. Your legacy should have been higher than Lincoln’s now it is lower than those who drove blacks out of Congress so many years ago.

Respectfully;

Richard P Sweeting
A white American who saw the dream, witnessed the assassination of Mr King and cried for the loss of equality then, as I do now.

Hey, earthquake yesterday and look what popped out.

    • Looks like he's still around and jumping back out of hiding with a lot of rage when I post a letter of a Democrat writing a letter of protest. I think I found a sore spot with him.

Sore spot 912? surely you jest.

Any neocon can write that pack of lies and claim he is a Democrat. It jut goes right to my point…conservatives are desperately grasping at every straw as they sink quickly into political obscurity.

        • You might want to take a close look at the last sentence in his email.

There will always be those small pockets of racial hatred. The people I have spoken to, of all colors, believe that the only reason there is any racism today, would be because those in power need to create it so they have something to keep the people fighting amongst each other. And then you have those in power that make statements that proves this far more than I can write about the sources of racism. Take a listen to link that Doobster provided and listen without earplugs in.

Yes, court jester and obscure. Just like last night we stumbled upon Joy Bayhar trying to match wits on a talk show on the democast network. I really enjoyed the canned laughter, sounded like the old Soupy Sales show. Must be hell being a bitter washed up has been like Bette Middlager. Obscurity?
Can you say Hillary? Funny, crap coming apart everywhere and where is she eating local foods this week?
    Socialcommunism payback is a bitch.
Ma,Ma, where's my pa? Ran back to Africa HA HA HA!
