And Here’s… Presidential Candidate Barack Obama
By Trent ThevenotSo what’s with the title? This title is to portray a President who has never accepted his Presidency and continues to run around the world, while on the taxpayer’s dollar, to continue his campaign speeches while using every opportunity to use props to help him build up his campaign.
The most recent speech involved his “Jobs Summit” where he was proud that the jobless rate fell to 10%. What’s sad is that these numbers represent the seasonal positions filled for the Holiday shopping and those who have just given up on the system and/or have lost their unemployment benefits. When the temporary employment, filled by the demands of the Holiday Seasonal, drop off there is no doubt that the jobless numbers will rebound to their previous 10.2% level or even higher.
As we have grown too accustomed to, Candidate Obama will be using this opportunity to take another campaign multi-city tour to take “Main Street’s temperature” to better understand the job loss issues. I, for one, would like to know just how he will be taking “Main Streets temperature” when he will likely never make it anywhere near any main street area. Geee, I wonder what happened to all that stimulus money that was intended to create jobs? Oh, that’s right, only a fraction of that was ever spent, with that fraction having been used to cover short term solutions in areas of the country who provided his campaign with a great deal of support.
Moving on…
Barack Obama’s previous campaign speech involved a long overdue speech regarding his plans for a 30,000 Afghanistan troop surge.
“Good evening. To the United States Corps of Cadets, to the men and women of our Armed Services, and to my fellow Americans: I want to speak to you tonight about our effort in Afghanistan — the nature of our commitment there, the scope of our interests, and the strategy that my administration will pursue to bring this war to a successful conclusion. It’s an extraordinary honor for me to do so here at West Point — where so many men and women have prepared to stand up for our security, and to represent what is finest about our country.
To address these important issues, it’s important to recall why America and our allies were compelled to fight a war in Afghanistan in the first place. We did not ask for this fight. On September 11, 2001, 19 men hijacked four airplanes and used them to murder nearly 3,000 people. They struck at our military and economic nerve centers. They took the lives of innocent men, women, and children without regard to their faith or race or station. Were it not for the heroic actions of passengers onboard one of those flights, they could have also struck at one of the great symbols of our democracy in Washington, and killed many more.
As we know, these men belonged to al Qaeda — a group of extremists who have distorted and defiled Islam, one of the world’s great religions, to justify the slaughter of innocents. Al Qaeda’s base of operations was in Afghanistan, where they were harbored by the Taliban — a ruthless, repressive and radical movement that seized control of that country after it was ravaged by years of Soviet occupation and civil war, and after the attention of America and our friends had turned elsewhere.”
Once again the Presidential Candidate, Barack Obama, chose to use members of the military as his props. This time he used a group of Corp Cadets who didn’t seem too amused with their being used as props. You might have even noticed that he even used the opportunity to give his Islamic friends an interesting plug with his stating, “one of the world’s great religions“, as if he was trying campaign for Islam.
Mr. President, when are you going move ahead with your Presidency and accept that the issues of today’s are no longer President Bush’s issues, but indeed they are your issues that need to be addressed and handled today by none other than you? Maybe you should think about filling your administration with successful business people who know how to get the job done, rather than with a group of individuals who have done nothing but spend their lives trying to figure out how to live off the backs of the American taxpayers (the government).
I am a proud father whose son has recently joined the ranks of the military, I want to know that we have a Commander in Chief who is willing to take on the responsibility for the job he has been appointed to do… the job as the President of these United States of America. My biggest concerns are not with my son joining the military, but that he joined under a man who is so unwilling to take on this most important position and accept the responsibilities of his position. Step up and be man enough to accept this responsibility and do it today and get off your DAMN campaign trail! The campaign was over with several months ago!
