A Review of the National Sovereignty Symposium in Omaha, Nebraska

By Proud American

Review provided by reader: Frank C.

On Saturday, Jan 16, 2010, 3 of our group from Des Moines attended the National Sovereignty Symposium in Omaha, Nebraska.  There were persons from several states there, including Iowa, Ohio, Wyoming and Texas, as well as people from Nebraska.

Groups represented were:

Featured speaker was Judge Andrew Napolitano, a Fox News personality, who gave an excellent speech on the Constitution, but did not delve that far into current events.  Personally, I was disappointed in that fact and also the fact that I was unable to meet him at his book signing.  He was only there for a short time and then left to attend a rally in Austin, Texas.

Other speakers included:

  • Shane Osborn – Nebraska State Treasurer
  • Tony  Fulton – Nebraska State Senator
  • Lee Terry – Nebraska  U.S. Senator
  • Glenn Freeman -  National Council of Censors
  • Brandon Creighton – State Representative for the State of Texas
  • Charles Key – State Representative for the State of Oklahoma
  • Susan Lynn – State Representative for the State of Tennessee

It was learned that Nebraska has indeed submitted their Declaration of State Sovereignty to the Nebraska legislature where it is working its way through to become law.  This puts them in the ranks of the great states of Tennessee, Oklahoma, Utah, Montana, Texas, and Alaska who have led the way in this movement.  Kudos to Nebraska for their movement.

Each of the speakers reiterated the same message of how important this movement is in securing our freedoms from the danger of the communist takeover being instituted by the administration in Washington D.C.   Each person needs to contact their state legislature and become involved in getting every state on board with this movement to shut down the power stroke of Washington.

Also, the same message from them was stating that “We The People” must become further involved by running for office from the local level all the way up to national level to ensure that this type of takeover does not happen again.   If you are unable to run for office personally, then find someone who has the same values and help them run.   As we all know, Scott Brown in Massachusetts is holding a lead on Martha Coakley for the Senate seat caused by Ted Kennedy’s death.  Who would have ever thought a Republican would do so well in that heavy of a Democratic state?

THIS SHOWS IT CAN BE DONE!

The largest fear given by each was:  If we are able to retake the House and Senate in the 2010 election, the American people will think that all is well in Whoville and will lose the anger and distrust of the government now prevalent throughout the country.

THIS IS AN EFFORT THAT MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE SIDETRACKED!

After the speakers, there was a breakout session divided into 4 sections and each attendee was able to attend the session that interested them the most.

They are as follows:

  • Health Care Reform Act:  (video) Nancy Barto  –  State Representative  Arizona
  • Firearms Freedom Act :  Nebraska Firearms Owners Association
  • The U.S. Constitution:  Glenn Freeman – National Council of Censors
  • Grassroots Training:   Brad Stevens – Americans for Prosperity

These were very informative as to what was happening in the legislature and how each person could become involved.  The group with seemingly the most interest was the group concerning the constitution given by Glenn Freeman, although each group had a respectable attendance.
An educated guess of overall attendance is 400 – 500 people.  This would seem to be a respectable turnout with the exception of the fact that the Constitutional Conservative Alliance who put this together stated that they had worked on it for 10 months.  It was stated that there was NO cooperation from the media in Omaha, which I can understand, as there is no cooperation from the lame stream media here in Des Moines, IA.  I do feel however, there was a great lack of communication between themselves and other 9/12 groups within Nebraska and neighboring states.  I feel that attendance could have skyrocketed with greater communication.

That being said, I personally had a great time and feel it was well worth the price of admission.

Our group was able to connect with other groups and network out.    I am especially pleased at the friendships we were able to strengthen with Janie White and her family, who represented the Wyoming Patriot Alliance from Cheyenne, Wyo and Jessica Hughes and her husband, who represented The Founders Alliance from Lufkin, Texas.   Dinner with these people after the symposium was encouraging, enlightening, and very entertaining.

In closing, I would like to ask each and every person who reads this to:
Please become involved with any group that supports the movement nationwide to maintain our sovereignty and freedoms.
We must not allow the Federal Government to dictate terms to the people of America nor give our sovereignty away to the United Nations.
