Happy Birthday to The 912 Project…

and thank you Glenn Beck and FOX News for doing so much to help wake up America and to get people involved!

Today is the first official birthday of The 912 Project that was started by Glenn Beck and announced on a special “We Surround Them” show on his FOX News program. That nights show helped to rekindle a whole new level of patriotism that has not been seen in the United States for what seems like an eternity.

Immediately following that show, people began forming 912 groups all over the country in an effort to let people know that we are truly the real majority in this country and that we are the ones our lawmakers should be listening to rather than a minority group of progressives. Although Mr. Beck is not responsible for the formation of the Tea Party movement we see today, he and other hosts had a great deal to do with the building of the movement because of this one not so small special “We Surround Them” show Beck held just one year ago. I have no doubt that Glenn won’t take credit for having so much to do with these movements and I know there are some out there who would like to deny him of that fact. The fact is that the people were already fed up with the direction our government had been headed in for a number of years and they just needed someone to provide them with the motivation to get up off their couches and a little direction to take action even if it meant for them to step outside their comfort zones. Glenn Beck provided them with that motivation one year ago and continues to get people fired up each and every day on his talk radio show and each week night on his FOX News program.

Since that passionate and sometimes emotional night on March 12, 2009, citizens have taken on an active roll in their local, state, and federal politics. They have become “watchdogs” that keep an eye on every level of government in their areas. While attending a meeting in Dallas, Texas I learned of one group who has even chosen to use a video camera to document their school board meetings, while another group was doing the same thing with their city council meetings to hold elected officials accountable for the actions. For three days I heard story after story that made me more and more proud of these patriots and all they are doing to take back control of their government.

That past year has presented us with many ups and downs as so many of us have had to learn how our governments work and how to carefully monitor their every move. This has just been the first year of the awakening of the American people. I can’t wait to see what this next year will bring as we all come together to return to a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Set aside an hour this evening, grab the family, and kick back and enjoy his one year anniversary show tonight for The 912 Project. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

God Bless all of those who have done so much throughout the past year. We have only just begun!
