Today the Senate Finance Committee passed its version of a bill on health care.  This is the one that was previously mentioned to cost families up to $4,000.00.  One thing to note is that this legislation was without a public option, which Obama wants.  What this piece of legislation does do is mandate that every person in the US have health care.  There are options, at the tax payer expense, to give subsidies to people who cannot afford it, thus increasing our taxes.  The proposal will also make cuts in Medicaid, which will reduce the current coverage that the Medicaid participants currently enjoy.

From the CBO review, as mentioned on NationalReview.com,

“According to CBO, the bill:

“would establish a mandate for most legal residents of the United States to obtain health insurance; set up insurance “exchanges” through which certain individuals and families could receive federal subsidies to substantially reduce the cost of purchasing that coverage; significantly expand eligibility for Medicaid; substantially reduce the growth of Medicare’s payment rates for most services (relative to the growth rates projected under current law); impose an excise tax on insurance plans with relatively high premiums”

This legislation will impose monetary penalties on individuals who refuse to get health care.  This is what Obama wants to say is NOT a tax.  We have all seen the video with the reporter and the dictionary. Does he really think his response is to be taken seriously?  Since when has the country come to the belief that you must get health care against your own will?  Well, if you look at this poll you will see the majority of Americans don’t feel it is right.

RasmussenReports.com poll reports,

“a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 55% of U.S. voters oppose that proposal. Just 32% of voters think young and healthy Americans should be forced to purchase health insurance or else pay a penalty. Fourteen percent (14%) are not sure.”

I believe Congressman Mike Rogers sums it up best in his address here:

All of this and nothing, absolutely nothing about Tort reform.  The biggest factor that actually drives up the cost of insurance and the cost of health care and it is NOT even mentioned.  It’s a shame the majority of people in congress are lawyers and they just won’t pass any legislation that cuts all their buddies financial gains from medical malpractice lawsuits.   All those campaign contributions sure are good for something, just not good for America!

No ACORN

Once again this administration is in bed with ACORN and their bag of nuts. This time it is Sara Hogan who is the Obama administration’s Director of the Office of Personnel. Sara used to work with the White House’s Political Director Patrick Gaspard.

From the Washington Post

“Howard and Gaspard both worked for Americans Coming Together (“ACT”) in 2004. In that year, ACT sent out a sensational, hate filled political flier showing white men spraying black people with fire hoses in the sixties. The ACT flier claimed Republicans were trying to intimidate blacks into not voting.”

And, according to REDSTATE

“If ACORN, the Working Families Party, or the SEIU wanted a jobs program at the White House, they have a ready outlet with Gaspard as the Political Director and Nancy Hogan as the Director for the Office of Personnel.

Hogan was the Obama campaign’s Northeast Political Director working in Brooklyn. Bertha Lewis’s contacts list has that information for Hogan, but the contacts list also contains Nancy Hogan’s cell phone number.”

I do not understand how these people are getting appointed to these positions.  I feel anyone and everyone in this administration should go through a vetting process.  I know they tried this in the Senate and of course the Democrats blocked the bill.  With all the corruption running rampant through Acorn no one with Acorn ties, either now or in their past, should be in this or any White House’s Administration.

As many people in our country have been surprised at the cost of the Iraq war how could it be possible that Obama can find a way to spend even more money on welfare?  But that is just what he plans to do.  Even though throughout his campaigning he complained about the reckless spending of the Bush administration, and how much it would cost our children in the future.  The entire Iraq war cost $622 Billion and Obama’s welfare spending for this year alone is set to cost us $888 billion.

According to CNS News

“Obama’s spending proposals call for the largest increases in welfare benefits in U.S. history, according to a report by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank. This will lead to a spending total of $10.3 trillion over the next decade on various welfare programs. These include cash payments, food, housing, Medicaid and various social services for low-income Americans and those at 200 percent of the poverty level, or $44,000 for a family of four. Among that total, $7.5 trillion will be federal money and $2.8 trillion will be federally mandated state expenditures.”

Welfare Stimulus Spending

Apparently Obama has changed his stance on welfare because in 1997 he opposed welfare.  From a blog on ABC News:

“I am not a defender of the status quo with respect to welfare,” Obama said on the floor of the Illinois state Senate on May 31, 1997. “Having said that, I probably would not have supported the federal legislation, because I think it had some problems.”

Welfare has become a crutch that millions of people now rely on rather than a temporary solution.  Welfare needs to be reformed to be more of a help to a productive member of society, rather than a cost to taxes payer.

The Big Lie called Global Warming

Posted by: | Comments (7)

As the Obama administration is pushing forward this week, at the UN and the G-20, with the Climate Change initiative, we need to take a closer look at global Global Warmingwarming.  There are billions and billions of our tax dollars at stake here.  Behind the scenes, the person who initiated this, Al Gore, is set to make billions of dollars off of changes to industries in the process.  And with this being one of the coolest summers in years we have to ask, “is global warming real?”

Just this week one of the top scientists supporting global warming admitted the earth is actually cooling.

A comment found on the Calgary Herald reads,

“Prof. Mojib Latif of Germany’s Leibniz Institute  is one of the leading climate modellers in the world. He is the recipient of several international climate-study prizes and a lead author for the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He has contributed significantly to the IPCC’s last two five-year reports that have stated unequivocally that man-made greenhouse emissions are causing the planet to warm dangerously.”

“last week in Geneva, at the UN’s World Climate Conference–an annual gathering of the so-called “scientific consensus” on man-made climate change –Latif conceded the Earth has not warmed for nearly a decade and that we are likely entering “one or even two decades during which temperatures cool.”

Although he later states that he expects that to change and global warming to return in 2020 – 2030 it makes this harder to believe with this inconsistency.  With the government talking about carbon taxing this must be looked at more closely.  There are scientists on both sides of the isle on this issue, but why do we only hear from the ones supporting the global warming side? As some will admit, there are changes in the earth’s temperature. Why do we have to accept that it is from carbon emissions?

We need to oppose any new tax that will affect every American.  This Cap and Trade tax will cost each and every one of us.  This will increase the cost of all goods.  No one in their right mind can think that if a corporation is being charge a carbon admissions tax it will not raise the price of products.  Every company will pass these costs on to the consumer, that’s you and me.  To me that’s raising taxes on the middle class.
