Today, the St. Paul Pioneer Press (St. Paul, MN) published a letter I wrote regarding a story about government union (specifically, City) workers loafing (while on the taxpayers dime) on the job when they were supposed to be filling potholes in St. Paul.

A culture of laziness

The story about the public union workers caught loafing on the job is an example of union organizing gone bad (“Pothole loafing gets 17 suspended,” May 11).

When unions first started organizing in the early 20th century, they helped workers in dangerous jobs become empowered against business owners who did not value the lives of their workers. For example, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers was formed because of the deaths of high-voltage linemen while they were installing what is now our power-grid.

However, along with necessary unions, there has been an explosion of non-essential unions in America. Unions that have absolutely nothing to do with the safety of their workers and are in place to bilk the public. These unions are responsible for bankrupting states like California with their salary and benefit demands — demands that private-sector employees can’t imagine requesting from their employers.

Our current administration prefers to demonize bankers, Wall Street, oil companies and talk radio for the breakdown of our great country. This administration is wrong. The real villains are the government and teachers’ unions that refuse to tighten their belts like those of us in the private-sector have to do.

Shame on those public unions for allowing a culture of laziness to flourish within their systems. Shame on them for insisting upon salaries and benefits that out-pace private sector salaries and benefits at the expense of the American taxpayer. It is time to abolish government and teacher unions and go back to a true privatized free-market system.

I had no idea that the letter had even been published until I checked my voicemail and heard the following message:

Was this voice mail, by an alleged Teamsters Union member, intended as intimidation? You decide!

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

The caller (coward) made sure to use “Private Caller” on my caller ID and left no name, either.  Isn’t it great that when we express our Freedom of Speech and are required to publish our names and hometowns that those in opposition to us, if they feel too cowardly to stand behind their statements, can call or write to harass us for using our Freedom of Speech?  Maybe this Teamster should put his money where his mouth is and write his OWN Letter to The Editor, instead of calling to harass me about my point of view.

Editor’s Note: I have now been informed that others have taken interest in playing this audio on some St. Paul area radio stations. I wonder if the voice on this voice mail recording will be recognized by friends and co-workers of this individual?

Another year, and another birthday without his family and friends for doing his duty. When will this injustice be corrected?

Mr. and Mrs. Behenna request Patriotic Americans to join their cause to remember their son. Let’s come together and never forget Michael languishing in Leavenworth. If you have the ability to assist, please contact Scott and Vicki Behenna at www.defendmichael.com

Defend Lt Michael Behenna

The Defend Michael newsletter I received today made the following plea to all those who have proudly supported Michael and the family:

To all Michael Behenna supporters,

Today is Michael’s 27th birthday.  While he won’t be ‘celebrating’ it in any real sense (no cake and candles in prison), his spirits have been incredibly lifted by the hundreds and hundreds of cards of letters he’s received in the just the past week alone.  He is overwhelmed by your support and personally wanted us to tell you how much it means to him.

As mentioned in the last newsletter, we are still eagerly awaiting the Military response to Michael’s appeal, which will allow Michael’s appeal to be docketed and hopefully, by this summer, be argued before the Army Court of Appeals.  In the meantime, we continue to encourage Michael’s supporters to contact their Senators and Congressmen.  These Congressional Delegations will be vital to ensure the Army handles Michael’s case properly moving forward.  Your assistance thus far has produced many important connections and unleashed scrutiny of Michael’s case we would not have thought possible.

It is estimated that more American soldiers have been charged with war crimes related to the war in Iraq than in

Lt. Michael Behenna

Lt. Michael Behenna

previous wars combined! Many believe that this is the result of the current Washington policy to prosecute members of the military for a political purpose—pandering to the Iraqi government.  In an effort to build awareness to this perversion, we are considering organizing a motorcycle/vehicle Rally to Ft. Leavenworth in early fall, 2010.  Michael is among ten decorated soldiers (coined the Leavenworth 10) in Leavenworth prison who have been wrongfully charged and convicted for murdering Al-Qaeda or insurgents. Their convictions are not publicized, but we have come to know each of their stories and they all answered the call of their country to defend our values and way of life against an enemy who wishes to destroy us.  After defending themselves or their fellow soldiers/Marines in a combat zone, they have fallen victim to untenable Rules of Engagement, demoralizing “Catch and Release” policies, and political correctness that left them abandoned by the country they fought for.

Many of Michael’s supporters have contacted us for additional ways to help. This rally will aid Michael and the other Leavenworth 10 in creating awareness for those who have not heard their stories. We envision this Rally to begin in at least the following 12 states; Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, and Tennessee, and culminate in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.  Due to the significance of 9/11 to these soldiers call to duty, we are considering holding the event the weekend before, on Labor Day 9/4/2010.   Before we finalize our plans, we would like to know if you would assist in the following areas:

Help put together the event in Leavenworth

Help coordinate a state leg of this journey to Leavenworth

Design and maintenance of a web site

Help sponsor the event (not necessary to attend)

Graphic Design (t-shirts, signs, flyers)

Most importantly – make the ride to Leavenworth (motorcycles and vehicles would be welcome)

Please reply about your interests and we will build a database of who can help us on this event.  We are also very interested in your thoughts and ideas about this event!  The size of this event is dependent upon those involved and our ability to attract other concerned Patriots. This rally is a way to show these soldiers that we appreciate their unselfish service to our country and they are not forgotten. Please consider being a part of the show of support these men never received from our country when they returned home from war.

The proud parents of an American hero.  Happy Birthday Michael!!!

My challenge for each and every one of us is to (if you can) send a birthday card and a letter showing our support for Lt. Behenna. His prison address is listed below. I have been told it needs to be listed exactly as shown so it will reach Michael.

Power Doesn’t Just Corrupt

Or: The Year of the Sand Blaster

It’s been almost a month now, and I apologize for the delay in getting back to this series. In my last post, I related the story of Tea Party backers taking over local unit chair positions, and the establishment hacks being very unhappy about it. Since then, Viginia’s 5th District has elected a new chairman, as well. (He appeared on one of my recent shows, by the way.)

One group that has defined “deafening silence” since then have been the lefty bloggers (and even some establishment GOP types) who had previously been very vocal about the Tea Party Movement and their certainty that it would never be able to have a discernible impact at the ballot box. The reason for their silence now is simple: every one of these local unit chair elections involved, of all things, ballots being cast and counted.

In my last post (part 1 of this series), I also talked about the redistribution of power. This time, I want to make the case for a movement in that direction being absolutely essential to our present struggle.

The Founders laid out very specific powers Read More→

Let me get this straight: Americans are all being forced to: tighten their belts due to a recession caused by government interference with the housing market; warily watch the economy for the feared “double-dip” recession that, if it comes, will also have been caused by government interference in the Nation’s business; hold onto jobs that they don’t like for fear of being unable to find another one if they quit;  take “stay-cations” because they can’t afford real vacations; and basically cut back on anything and everything.

Meanwhile, over 100 Representatives and government workers spent over $1.1 million dollars to attend the Copenhagen Summit.  Not only did our Representatives spend 1.1 Million Tax-Payer Dollars to attend a summit based on fabricated evidence of Global Warming, (Climategate emails), but they also in no way accounted for the taxpayer money they spent while there.  Furthermore, had the so-called leaders had their way, this Summit would have forced Americans to pay higher taxes and increased energy costs in order to subsidize third-world, emerging countries’ efforts to go “green”.  So we go to a Climate Change Conference to pay countries like China to whom we already owe billions of dollars.

The recently released expense report lists each Representative and some staffers being reimbursed exactly $4,406.00.  Nancy Pelosi claimed that $4,406.00 was the cost of the hotel (the Five Star Marriott Copenhagen):

Pelosi’s office did offer an explanation for the high room charges. Those who stayed just two nights were charged Read More→

It has just been announced that Scott Brown has just won the Senate Special Election in Massachusetts!

Scott Brown Wins!

Scott Brown Wins Massachusetts Senate Special Election!

It has been an election that has received national attention from citizens all across these United States. The key that drew so much attention was the fact that this could be the Senate seat that prevents the Democrats from cramming through every agenda they had planned to ram down the throats of America. You might be one to be concerned over the health care bill, or the cap & trade, or the upcoming amnesty bill. No matter whether you are concerned over some of these bills, or you are concerned over the potential passage of all of these bills, Brown could be the important vote that prevents their passage.

We will have to keep in mind that this will only happen if he remembers who came together and helped him gain this much needed win for America. Should Scott Brown forget this fact, he will only have two years to hold this Massachusetts Senate seat and will be one of many expected to receive their pink slips in the coming years.

I’d like to applaud the U.S. Citizens, tea party groups, 912 project groups, and all the others who came out to let their voices be heard with this one critical vote to begin the process of bringing your government back to a point of representing the people.

What’s makes this win even more impressive, is the fact that you overcame the many alleged attempts of voter fraud and the violations of polling rules, as seen in the following videos provided by the Election Journal.

Is this woman really handing out absentee ballots?

What’s this? Coakley signs violating 150ft electioneering buffer!

Is this uniformed security worker really waving a Coakley sign outside this polling place?

I have no doubt there will be much more to come.

The people of California are striving to take back control from public employee unions which have gained entirely too much power over politics in Sacramento, California. There is no hiding the fact that union bosses have been quick to dig deep into members’ paychecks and use the money collected to sway politics with their political contributions they say are on the behalf of their members. The Citizen Power Initiative is meant to take control of the peoples’ government away from union bosses and return it back to the people of California just like it was intended to be.

Written by Dawn Widman on UnplugThePoliticalMachine.org

Tustin, CA [January 14, 2010] -

California Representative Tom McClintock today announced his endorsement of the Citizen Power Initiative, a proposed ballot initiative that will ban the practice of allowing taxpayer money to be funneled to politics through public employee unions’ paychecks.

The Citizen Power Campaign (www.UnplugThePoliticalMachine.org) is currently collecting signatures to qualify the Citizen Power Initiative for the November 2010 ballot.? Proponents have until mid-April to render nearly 700,000 valid signatures to the Secretary of State.
