This housing inventory is often referred to as “shadow inventory”, which is based on estimates of real estate owned (REO) by banks and mortgage companies, as a direct result of foreclosures and other actions, such as deeds in lieu, as well as real estate that is at least 90 days delinquent. It is also worthy of noting that shadow inventory is not included in official measures of unsold real estate inventory.

Based on the current sales rate, the estimated supply is 3.3 months, which is up from 2.4 months a year ago. The months’ supply is a measure of how quickly the inventory will run off based on the current sales rates.

The Arkansas Democrat Gazette (Arkansas’s statewide newspaper) has on this Tuesday morning, October the 13th, 2009, 5 full pages (front and back) of foreclosures. The paper itself is only 48 pages! I am a whiz at math though & that’s over 20% of the paper devoted to foreclosures. What is unique about this particular issue, there is only 1 break in the listings as circled in the page layout above. It’s a little comic of Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! They have a fancy new term “California Bay-Delta Memorandum of Understanding Among Federal Agencies” for looking into a situation and setting a deadline planning date December 1st, 2009. This does not mean anything will yet be accomplished. The valley will still be dry, crops will not be growing, and the residents will still be in dire conditions.

I don’t want to interfere with the prestigious group that has been rounded up to look busy but let’s simplify the whole process. These are immediate steps that can be done within 24 hours:

These 8 year old trees are dead, and a parcel of fertile land the size of Rhode Island is decimated, why? What are Diane Feinstein, Barbara Boxer and Nancy Pelosi waiting for? Is this not the state that sent them to their political offices. Is the valley unable to make payoffs to the politicians for favors? Is it all about the money or is it due to the foolish fish?

Tip from my hubby: For a minimal amount of money, the environmentalists clowns can put a series of nets or screens smaller than the fish around the pumps, end of problem!

The following is a comment I posted to a California newspaper’s online Op-Ed complaining that the idea being considered to release 27,000 low risk and elderly prisoners was being unfairly opposed citing that just because the state has a 70% recidivism rate and high unemployment doesn’t mean their presence among law abiding citizens is a recipe for disaster:

I’m a former Californian (SF Bay Area) and you’re missing a GOLDEN opportunity.

California doesn’t have jobs or money, so why not setup a voluntary program where these same 27,000 low risk inmates can choose to serve out their term working in retrofitted prisons doing the same $.30 an hour work the Chinese are doing making t-shirts, etc. with the profits going to pay for their incarceration and any money spilling over being set aside for them when they are released and/or going toward teacher merit pay increases.

Seen through the eyes of a Kung Fu Master (which I am not) the approach to opposing “Cap & Tax” is very flawed.

The Cap & Trade legislation bound for the Senate is the result of decades of yellow journalism, movies, tv, radio, and video games.  This is a behemoth amount of momentum that, even if blocked now, will resurface again and again.

So, the best strategy is not to stand in the way of this propoganda machine, but to use this same environmental tsunami to expose it’s false masters.
