transparent government by Presidential Candidate Barack Obama during his 2008 campaign speeches.

January 6, 2010

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Steve King made the following statement today in support of C-SPAN’s request to broadcast the negotiations that are currently underway between the House and Senate regarding legislation to change our nation’s health care system:

“In January 2008 candidate Obama pledged not to negotiate health care legislation ‘behind closed doors.’  Instead he committed to ‘broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN.’  There are serious differences between candidate Obama’s statements in 2008 and President Obama’s actions in 2010.

“Today, the healthcare legislation is being negotiated behind closed doors, and C-SPAN’s request to broadcast these negotiations is being rebuffed.  Tuesday night President Obama and liberals in Congress decided to bypass conference committee debate to craft government-run health care legislation in secret in an effort to expedite its passage into law.

“These closed-door, back room dealings may be the norm in a Chicago-style gangster government, but they are not acceptable in our constitutional republic.  Americans have a right to know what is going on so they can make their voices heard.

“When asked about President Obama’s pledge to allow C-SPAN access to health care debates, Speaker Pelosi dismissively said ‘there are a number of things he was for on the campaign trail.’  Apparently the Speaker of the House doesn’t mind the idea of the president breaking his promises to the American people.  But the American people do mind, and they expect President Obama to follow through on the promise he made to them on the campaign trail.”

This video (seen below) of candidate Barack Obama stating, “I’ll make our Government open and TRANSPARENT.”

This video also includes some of his other broken promises, such as:

7 Broken Promises:
1. Make Government Open and Transparent
2. Make it “Impossible” for Congressmen to slip in Pork Barrel Projects
3. Meetings where laws are written will be more open to the public (republicans shut out)
4. No more secrecy
5. Public will have 5 days to look at a Bill
6. You’ll know what’s in it (Republican Senators didnt know)
7. We will put every pork barrel project online

President Barack Obama sent out an email to his supporters, followers, and worshippers, bragging about the Senate having passed their version of the healthcare bill. At the end of his email, he asked them to fill join others in signing a letter to the Senate to thank them for signing the bill.

I say, the only thing to thank them for, is selling out America and the future of our children and for signing a plan of destruction of the world’s best healthcare system.

Here is a copy of the letter found on, Organizing for America:

Although it’s Christmas Eve, I wanted to share some exciting news: The Senate just passed a historic health reform bill.

In all the back and forth, it’s easy to lose sight of what this incredible breakthrough really means. But consider this: This Christmas, there are millions of Americans without health insurance who risk losing everything if they get sick.

There are mothers and fathers who wonder how they’ll provide for their children because an illness has wiped out their savings. There are small business owners who worry that they’ll have to lay off a long-time employee because the cost of insurance is rapidly rising.

If we finish the job, all this can change. We will have beaten back the special interests who have for so long perpetuated the status quo. We will have enacted the most important piece of social policy since the Social Security Act in the 1930s, and the most important health reform since Medicare in the 1960s.

In Decembers to come, millions more will have access to affordable coverage. Parents will have the security and stability of knowing their insurance can’t be revoked at a moment’s notice. And the skyrocketing costs plaguing our small businesses will be brought under control.

When you make calls, write letters, organize, this is the change you’re making — a better life for your family and for men and women in every state.

There is still more to do before I can sign reform into law — a last round of negotiations and final votes in the Senate and the House — and I’m counting on your help every step of the way. But for now, I hope that as you celebrate this holiday season, you remember that the work you are doing is making our union more perfect, one step at a time. For that, I am grateful to you.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays,

President Barack Obama

P.S. — Organizing for America supporters are signing a note of appreciation to all the senators who have worked so hard to make this possible. I hope you’ll join them.

The Senate that stole Christmas!

The Senate that Stole Christmas!

I’m sorry to have to produce such gloomy news on Christmas Eve. I really hoped someone would come to their senses. That is assuming anyone in D.C. has any.

Many of you woke this morning to find out the Senate has given you two big lumps of coal in your Christmas Stocking. This is just another example of their liberal desire to kill the Christmas spirit for all of us. This Senate will be forever known as “The Senate That Stole Christmas”.

We don’t have to look far to find the Grinch this year since the Senate passed their version of the Healthcare monstrosity that promises to tax you long before you will ever see any benefits, even though numerous polls show the majority of America are against this unconstitutional bill.

And then to top it all off, they approved a $290 billion debt limit increase, which is enough to keep funding the financing deficit for a whole two months. Sure hope you are enjoying passing your debts onto your children, people.

I guess this is the Senate’s way of saying, “Merry Flipping Christmas Citizens!”

Be sure to let your conservative Senators know this failure falls on their laps, as well. They could have taken a much stronger public stance against this bill and it’s amendments, and yet they chose not to. Senator Chuck Grassley already knows I am holding him responsible for sitting on his cushy rear while the Democrats ran this through.

If you let up on them, it is now time to begin calling, faxing, writing, and emailing your Representatives to let them know where you stand on the proposed healthcare and where they should stand.

When gathering with friends and family over Christmas, please take this opportunity to step outside your comfort zones and educated them about what the Democrats are giving them as a Christmas present and ask them to help by contacting their legislators every day until we kill the bill.

Patriots from all around converged on Omaha, Nebraska Sunday afternoon after they received notice of an Emergency Healthcare Rally that was to take place at the Omaha Music Hall to let Senator Ben Nelson know their anger over his decision to support Harry Reid’s Amendment for the healthcare reform bill. The event was a great success with a huge crowd in attendance for the rally. I couldn’t see just how many were in the top balcony to know whether it was filled. I can say that the main floor and first balcony, of the Omaha Music Hall, were completely filled with a number of people standing on stage as well.

Throughout the event, it was made quite apparent Senator Ben Nelson had made a great many promises to vote against the proposed healthcare reform bill. As one speaker discussed Nelson’s promises, a person from the crowd shouted, “He’s a liar” with several others then joining in with calling him a liar. To that I say, if the shoe fits, you might as well wear it. I know I was brought up, as I’m sure Senator Ben Nelson was, with the understanding that if I make a promise I am to go to great lengths to do what I can to keep that promise.

The emails about the event started pouring in late Saturday night asking me to help get the word out and asking if I would be making the trip to the event. What good is all my opposition to this whole mess if I didn’t take the time to make the trip to attend such an important event? So, my son and I ventured out at about braved snow slickened blacktops and highways while traveling two and a half hours to Omaha to attend this rally where Governor Mike Huckabee, and others, were scheduled to speak.

We arrived at the event shortly after 1 pm and as we were pulling up, my son asked me when I received notice of this event? I told him that it was put together at the last minute and I received first notice late last (Saturday) night. After he received my answer, he was amazed at how many people were outside while waiting in line to get into the Emergency Healthcare Rally.

While waiting in line, ourselves, we couldn’t help but to notice the approximately 20 counter-protesters who showed up for the event. I looked hard for the SEIU jackets, shirts, or even hats so I might be able to grab a picture and I was floored to see none of them wearing any. My son was embarrassed when I approached the counter-protesters right after there was a passionate back and forth yelling between them and a very upset attendee of the rally. I had a discussion with them on just how passionate an issue this is for those on both sides of the fence and discussed some of the different things included in the proposed bill. I even went so far  as to explain to them that I would be standing right there with them if this bill was really about resolving healthcare issues. I think I shocked them as proceeded to casually discuss some other issues within this legislation and then I parted with politely asking them to please read the bill and wished them a Merry Christmas.

Counter-protesters at Emergency Healthcare Rally

Counter-protesters at Emergency Healthcare Rally

So, why did I take time to have this conversation with these people who came to counter-protest our Emergency Healthcare Rally? I don’t believe that screaming and yelling will close the gap and educate the people who are lost in their opposition to our efforts. It is my believe that we can have open and honest debate, when permitted, with those on the other side of the fence. When doing so, we might just get one more person to take an honest look at things and understand that we are opposing the content of legislation that will cause far more problems than it will ever fix.

While waiting in line, I recall one interesting conversation with a couple who had just moved to Omaha, Nebraska from California. They were talking about how so many people they talked with, in Omaha, had beliefs that were entirely conservative in nature, and yet these same people were devoted Democrats. They just couldn’t understand that. As we laughed about it I explained to them that we had the very same issue in Iowa. I can’t count the number of times I’ve sat down with someone as we discussed and agreed on so many conservative value related issues and then I find out they are Democrats.

Please scroll through the images from the event and watch Mike Huckabee’s speech at the event.

Today’s article is coming out later than usual because of my trying to decide just how I wanted to approach this tragedy. I finally decided, the hell with it, I’ll just let my fingers make that decision for me. And they did just that. Enjoy!

Once again many of us found ourselves glued to C-SPAN2, in the middle of the night, as the Senate voted on cloture of the Harry Reid Amendment for the healthcare reform bill. We watched as votes were bought, threats were made, and bribes were placed to bring on the 60 votes needed to approve a cloture for this amendment.

Nelson signed on with cloture of Reid's Amendment

Nelson signed on with cloture of Reid's Amendment

This administration has used everything within their reach to push through one of the most tragic bills to ever be presented to the American population. Chicago Style Politics has been used in so many ways with the agendas of this President’s Administration. Senator Ben Nelson, of Nebraska, was one of the latest to cave to these tactics, while accepting a bribe for his support. One just has to wonder what all took place behind those closed door meetings to get Senator Nelson to become a traitor against the good people of Nebraska when the majority of Nebraskans are strongly opposed to the passage of the proposed legislation. If last nights emergency healthcare rally is a sign of what’s to come for Nelson, I’d say that his choice to place a vote for Cloture, of Reid’s amendment, was indeed his not so logical choice to vote himself right out of office.

Being from Iowa, I watched the C-SPAN2 coverage with a great deal of embarrassment as Senator Tom Harkin, of Iowa, stood there

Harkin proudly supports cloture of Reid's Amendment

Harkin proudly supports cloture of Reid's Amendment

and talked about all the advantages of this health care legislation. Nearly everything he talked about was developed from a twisted mess of lies. He even talked about keeping your current healthcare if you are happy with it. Those of us who have been paying attention to this whole mess, already know this is a complete lie.

In his form constituent responses and other means, Senator Tom Harkin has had a tendency to use poll numbers showing a majority of Iowans being in support of healthcare reform. To be honest, I am one of those people. What he doesn’t do, is to detail those numbers and show just how many Iowans are against this proposed healthcare reform and are actually in support of true remedies to the issues. Senator Harkin, the Iowans, who have read all or parts of this bill and it’s amendments, are far too smart to be in support of the terrible legislation that you are proposing for Iowa and the rest of America. You are a complete embarrassment for Iowa and I do know there is a growing movement forming to make sure you will no longer have the opportunity to continue to embarrass Iowa.

This is what Harry Reid thinks of majority of Americans

This is what Harry Reid thinks of majority of Americans

And then there was Senator Harry Reid, who decided to stand up and dish out some of his lies. He stated, “Americans are dieing far too soon.”  And yet, if he gets his way, Americans will most likely die earlier, while suffering and waiting in a line of government red tape. A shortage of medical professionals and facilities will be the direct cause of people suffering and dieing while waiting for proper care. You don’t have to look any further than our Canadian neighbors to find many such perfect examples of this.

Truth be known, I am in support of a viable health care reform that is NOT controlled by the government and so full of legislative pork and bribes. Most people I speak with are in complete agreement that reform is indeed needed. We just have no interest in the inefficiencies of our government being in control of it.

What Conservatives and Republicans don’t seem to be aware of, is that your Republican legislators are doing far less to stop the passage of this bill than you are aware of. It seems they have little interest in delaying the passage of this bill as stated by Republican Senator Jon Kyl on Bill Bennett’s radio show. The details of this, and much more, can be found at, Earth Times. Don’t be shocked when you realize that both parties are to blame for this bill moving forward.

Here’s one of the many revealing things they pointed out:

“Republican Senator Jon Kyl let the cat out of the bag on Bill Bennett’s radio show last week. When guest host Rick Santorum asked Kyl, ‘What is your strategy, to the extent you can share it,’ Kyl said, ‘Our strategy is not actually to delay…Our strategy is to have a lot of good amendments and highlight the problems in the bill. It is not our strategy to somehow slow things down.’

Fortunately for America, this battle is not yet over. There are a number of steps left before we can even think about letting up with this fight against Chicago Style Politics. Just because the Christmas Holiday Season is upon us, does not mean it is time to let down your guard. Keep calling, emailing, and faxing all of your legislators on a daily basis and let them know you are strongly opposed to an attack on the best healthcare system in the world.

With votes expected to take place on Christmas Eve, what are you going to let these jokers give you for Christmas?

With many questioning whether a Nationalized Health Care Bill will pass through the Senate, the Senate GOP has chosen to utilize their option to read the bill and it’s amendments aloud on the Senate floor in an effort to delay passage of the bill.

With recent reports of a recall of the government provided H1N1 vaccine, otherwise known as the swine flu, how can anyone believe the government will provide anything but ineffective and inefficient health care to the citizens of these United States of America?

While attending the Code Red Senate Rally, Michelle Malkin posted updates about the bill on her blog. One interesting update was about Senator Ben Nelson reportedly being threatened with a base closure if he doesn’t sign on with additional reports that me will be offered a “blank check” bribe greater than the one received by Senator Landrieu.

Other reports are stating the Senate voicemail systems have crashed because of the overwhelming number of calls coming into their offices.

And yet other reports, Tea Party Patriots, concentrated their newsletter on the event with requests to concentrate your opposition of the Health Care Reform Bill with the following Senators.
