According to scripture, Christians that Jesus came back to life, or was raised from the dead, three days after his death on the cross. As part of the Easter season, the death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion, is commemorated on Good Friday, always the Friday just before Easter. When I got dressed up all in a satiny white dress, gloves, white patent leather shoes, and my veil to receive my First Communion, I was a proud little Catholic girl. This was oh so many years ago, but the memory is still vividly fresh. It is the first time, dressed up, that a little boy or girl is acknowledged as belonging to the collective body of the church. You are able to assume your place at Communion with the adults. Traditional, celebratory, and piety all rolled into one. No Politics.
