Amnesty Bill will be American’s Next Crisis
Posted by: | CommentsIllegal immigration, not to be confused with legal immigration, continues to be a major concern for the majority of America with promises to push an amnesty bill onto the legal citizens of the United States.
H.R. 3580 (Illegal Deduction Elimination Act) has been sponsored by Iowa Congressman Steve King, along with 22 co-sponsors, to address the nations next major crisis, the amnesty bill.
In a press release sent out by King today, he states,
In November 2008, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel famously said, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” The Obama White House has followed this Rahmism to a tee.
Last year, the Obama administration utilized our economic crisis to nationalize the largest entities they could get their hands on. From General Motors to Chrysler to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to AIG and three large investment banks, at times President Obama’s domestic agenda appeared no different than Hugo Chavez’s.
The White House pushed hard last spring for a cap and tax plan that would force American companies to comply with costly Read More→
What will the State of The Union Address be about?
Posted by: | CommentsWith the State of the Union address being highly anticipated by many Americans, there are a number of us expecting to see a well scripted line of excuses and passing the blame onto President’s who are no longer running this country.
The issues expecting to be discussed in tonight’s address will most likely follow President Obama’s typical finely tuned lines of a campaign strategy speech, provided to him via a teleprompter, while filled with many empty promises for creating jobs, solving health care issues, and using cap and trade to fix the global warming issues that we all know don’t exist. Being a citizen of Iowa, I have spoken with many Iowans who would love to have some of that global warming right about now. The people of America are beyond the excuses and beyond the blame Bush practices, and simply want real solutions that will work to bring the U.S. economy back to a point of stabilization.
With expectations boiling, Paul A. Rahe, offers President Obama his version on BigGovernment.com, of what the State of the Union address should look like:
My fellow Americans, let me begin by stating the obvious. The state of our union is not good. We seem to be – we may be – coming out of a recession. But, if so, the recovery is not only jobless; it is accompanied by an increase in unemployment.
This is contrary to my expectation. When I became President, my economic advisers told me that the rate of unemployment would be considerably lower now than it is. They were mistaken, and I erred in taking their advice. The fault is mine. I may not have gotten us into a severe recession, but I advanced proposals and I pursued policies which have prolonged and deepened it. I am at fault.
To be precise, I signed into law a so-called stimulus bill that has thus far retarded economic growth by greatly increasing the size of the federal bureaucracy, the expense of supporting it, and the national debt. I urged Congress to pass cap-and-trade legislation that, had it become law, would have greatly increased the cost of energy, and I encouraged Congress to pass a healthcare reform that would have increased not only the cost of medical care but the burden on employers attendant on hiring. Everything that I did in my first year in office contributed to economic uncertainty and made employers less likely to hire and investors wary of investing. I am at fault.

When asked for a statement about tonight’s address, Congressman Steve King (R-IA) had this to say,
“President Obama has had so many things that have gone wrong. His popularity has gone down substantially and some of it for good reason. So the argument that he would put a cap or a freeze on discretionary spending is something that had been leaked out that I think he intends to say, but that doesn’t do much and I don’t think it changes the political tide.”
While searching for to see what others are writing about the State of the Union address, I found that many of the main stream media sources, who use to support President Obama, are now offering up back-handed views of what they expect to hear tonight.
Rep. Steve King: Let Sun Shine on Health Care Debate
Posted by: | CommentsCongressman Steve King (R-IA) speaks out against closed door Health Care negotiations as Congressional liberals have choosen not to honor promises of a

Congressman Steve King
transparent government by Presidential Candidate Barack Obama during his 2008 campaign speeches.
January 6, 2010
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Steve King made the following statement today in support of C-SPAN’s request to broadcast the negotiations that are currently underway between the House and Senate regarding legislation to change our nation’s health care system:
“In January 2008 candidate Obama pledged not to negotiate health care legislation ‘behind closed doors.’ Instead he committed to ‘broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN.’ There are serious differences between candidate Obama’s statements in 2008 and President Obama’s actions in 2010.
“Today, the healthcare legislation is being negotiated behind closed doors, and C-SPAN’s request to broadcast these negotiations is being rebuffed. Tuesday night President Obama and liberals in Congress decided to bypass conference committee debate to craft government-run health care legislation in secret in an effort to expedite its passage into law.
“These closed-door, back room dealings may be the norm in a Chicago-style gangster government, but they are not acceptable in our constitutional republic. Americans have a right to know what is going on so they can make their voices heard.
“When asked about President Obama’s pledge to allow C-SPAN access to health care debates, Speaker Pelosi dismissively said ‘there are a number of things he was for on the campaign trail.’ Apparently the Speaker of the House doesn’t mind the idea of the president breaking his promises to the American people. But the American people do mind, and they expect President Obama to follow through on the promise he made to them on the campaign trail.”
This video (seen below) of candidate Barack Obama stating, “I’ll make our Government open and TRANSPARENT.”
This video also includes some of his other broken promises, such as:
7 Broken Promises:
1. Make Government Open and Transparent
2. Make it “Impossible” for Congressmen to slip in Pork Barrel Projects
3. Meetings where laws are written will be more open to the public (republicans shut out)
4. No more secrecy
5. Public will have 5 days to look at a Bill
6. You’ll know what’s in it (Republican Senators didnt know)
7. We will put every pork barrel project online
Steve King Hosts District Director Dave Ehler’s Retirement
Posted by: | CommentsDecember 23, 2009
Yesterday, I had the great fortune of being invited to attend the retirement party for Congressman Steve King’s District Director, Dave Ehler.
The event was well attended by Ehler’s family, friends, and associates from throughout the area, and abroad, who braved ice fog slickened roads to make it to the retirement celebration for such an honorable public servant.
Dave has become well known in his hometown, of Holstein, Iowa, for his great leadership and real community organizer skills. Mr Ehler gained a great deal of respect from community leaders throughout the entire 5th Congressional District of Iowa. According to Rep. King, Ehler had made it a point to travel to each and every city or town in Iowa’s 5th District. This being Iowa’s largest district, makes this quite an accomplishment to be proud of.
Congressman King stood in front of a nice group of people who braved the ice fog slickened roads to come out and celebrate the many great accomplishments, of which most citizens would be proud to have accomplished a fraction of what this one man, Dave Ehler, has been accredited with.
Congressman Steve King stood before the attendees and spent about a half hour talking about Ehler’s dedicated years of service to Iowa’s 5th District. There was laughter, applause, and even a few tears shed, as the Congressman talked about the many accomplishments of a truly great man. He talked of putting his trust in Dave as Dave “kept the District on task and well organized” while King was busy attending to issues in Washington, D.C. Managing such a large district could not have been an easy task for any one individual.
At the end of King’s speech, he and his staff presented a special gift of a handcrafted plaque to the retiring District Director.

Gift to Dave Ehler (right), by Congressman Steve King and staff. In picture with Dave, is new District Director Wayne Brincks (left).
The following is just a brief list of Dave’s legacy of public service at the most professional of levels.
- U.S. Navy from July 1967 to August 1970
- Holstein, Iowa City Clerk from February 6, 1975 to December 27, 2002, where he continued to be instrumental in the betterment of his community in so many unheard of ways.
- Thirty year member of the Holstein Volunteer Fire Department
- Secretary/Treasurer of the Northwest Iowa League of Cities for 11 years and was the 19th member to be inducted into the NWLC Hall of Fame
- Four Lane Highway 20 group member since the early 80′s and Secretary/Treasurer of the group for 20 yrs.
- Board member of the Iowa Municipal Finance Officers Association
- Dave was a certified CPR instructor trainer, a certified Emergency Rescue Technician and a certified Emergency Medical Technician
- Dave and wife Judy have been foster parents for 27 kids in need for which the couple was honored with the prestigious “Angels in Adoption Award” in 2007
- Seven years as District Director for Iowa’s 5th Congressional District
In the past several years, Dave was highly instrumental in leading the fight for the Four Lane Highway 20 group. With grading work planned for next year, this project is well under way after having involved a great number of challenging hurdles to have this heavily traveled road turned into a four lane freeway. This will
provide improved infrastructure to better handle the heavy load of truck and auto traffic that rolls across this highway every single day. The project is now well under way and, once finished, will allow travelers to set their cruise on 65 as they enjoy their travel across Northern Iowa on highway 20.
A special speaker, Brigadier General Tim Orr, the Adjutant General for Iowa, came from his Des Moines, IA office to thank Dave for his years of dedication to the Armed Forces, throughout his years, and to personally hand give him a Coin from the Adjutant General and The Commander’s Coin.
Members of Congress Demand for President to Fire “Safe Schools Czar”
Posted by: | CommentsThe highly unpopular “Safe Schools Czar”, Kevin Jennings, continues to fall under attack as members of Congress demand that he be fired by the President for a growing number of reasons. One of the most recent shocking reports involves the promoting of fisting to 14 year olds “Fistgate“, as reported by BigGovernment.com.
In a letter to the President, Congressman Steve King (R-IA) states:
December 16, 2009
President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, D.C. 20500Dear Mr. President,
In a letter dated October 15, 2009, I, along with 52 of my colleagues, respectfully requested that you remove Kevin Jennings from his position as the “Safe Schools Czar.” To date, we have received no response. Due to the inaction of your Administration, Representative Michael Burgess has introduced a resolution calling for Kevin Jennings to be fired from his post as “Safe Schools Czar” immediately. I am disappointed that concerned Members of Congress have been forced to resort to legislative action as a result of your unwillingness to act on this important matter.
Mr. Jennings’ record proves that he is unfit to serve as the “Safe Schools Czar.” My colleagues and I, along with the American people, deserve to know why Mr. Jennings is still serving in your Administration, despite his lack of appropriate qualifications or ethical standards. Mr. Jennings has a history of pushing a pro-homosexual agenda in America’s schools, ignoring the sexual abuse of a child, supporting inappropriate sexual relationships between adults and children, using illegal drugs without regret and facilitating certain types of sexual behavior by children. Mr. Jennings must be removed from his position as the “Safe Schools Czar” immediately.
I have enclosed a copy of the October 15, 2009, letter for your convenience. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Steve King
Member of Congress
