Illegal immigration, not to be confused with legal immigration, continues to be a major concern for the majority of America with promises to push an amnesty bill onto the legal citizens of the United States.

H.R. 3580 (Illegal Deduction Elimination Act) has been sponsored by Iowa Congressman Steve King, along with 22 co-sponsors, to address the nations next major crisis, the amnesty bill.

In a press release sent out by King today, he states,

In November 2008, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel famously said, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” The Obama White House has followed this Rahmism to a tee.

Last year, the Obama administration utilized our economic crisis to nationalize the largest entities they could get their hands on. From General Motors to Chrysler to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to AIG and three large investment banks, at times President Obama’s domestic agenda appeared no different than Hugo Chavez’s.

The White House pushed hard last spring for a cap and tax plan that would force American companies to comply with costly new energy

With the State of the Union address being highly anticipated by many Americans, there are a number of us expecting to see a well scripted line of excuses and passing the blame onto President’s who are no longer running this country.

The issues expecting to be discussed in tonight’s address will most likely follow President Obama’s typical finely tuned lines of a campaign strategy speech, provided to him via a teleprompter, while filled with many empty promises for creating jobs, solving health care issues, and using cap and trade to fix the global warming issues that we all know don’t exist. Being a citizen of Iowa, I have spoken with many Iowans who would love to have some of that global warming right about now. The people of America are beyond the excuses and beyond the blame Bush practices, and simply want real solutions that will work to bring the U.S. economy back to a point of stabilization.

With expectations boiling, Paul A. Rahe, offers President Obama his version on BigGovernment.com, of what the State of the Union address should look like:

January 6, 2010

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Steve King made the following statement today in support of C-SPAN’s request to broadcast the negotiations that are currently underway between the House and Senate regarding legislation to change our nation’s health care system:

“In January 2008 candidate Obama pledged not to negotiate health care legislation ‘behind closed doors.’ Instead he committed to ‘broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN.’ There are serious differences between candidate Obama’s statements in 2008 and President Obama’s actions in 2010.

“Today, the healthcare legislation is being negotiated behind closed doors, and C-SPAN’s request to broadcast these negotiations is being rebuffed. Tuesday night President Obama and liberals in Congress decided to bypass conference committee debate to craft government-run health care legislation in secret in an effort to expedite its passage into law.

December 23, 2009

Yesterday, I had the great fortune of being invited to attend the retirement party for Congressman Steve King’s District Director, Dave Ehler.

The event was well attended by Ehler’s family, friends, and associates from throughout the area, and abroad, who braved ice fog slickened roads to make it to the retirement celebration for such an honorable public servant.

Dave has become well known in his hometown, of Holstein, Iowa, for his great leadership and real community organizer skills. Mr Ehler gained a great deal of respect from community leaders throughout the entire 5th Congressional District of Iowa. According to Rep. King, Ehler had made it a point to travel to each and every city or town in Iowa’s 5th District. This being Iowa’s largest district, makes this quite an accomplishment to be proud of.

Congressman King stood in front of a nice group of people who braved the ice fog slickened roads to come out and celebrate the many great accomplishments, of which most citizens would be proud to have accomplished a fraction of what this one man, Dave Ehler, has been accredited with.

Congressman Steve King stood before the attendees and spent about a half hour … Read the Entire Story

Dear Mr. President,

In a letter dated October 15, 2009, I, along with 52 of my colleagues, respectfully requested that you remove Kevin Jennings from his position as the “Safe Schools Czar.” To date, we have received no response. Due to the inaction of your Administration, Representative Michael Burgess has introduced a resolution calling for Kevin Jennings to be fired from his post as “Safe Schools Czar” immediately. I am disappointed that concerned Members of Congress have been forced to resort to legislative action as a result of your unwillingness to act on this important matter.

Press Release from the office of U.S. Congressman Steve King

SIOUX CITY — Congressman Steve King today announced the upcoming retirement of long-time District Director David J. Ehler.

Ehler, who has worked for Congressman King since he took office in 2003, will officially retire on January 2, 2010. During his seven years as District Director, Ehler visited all 32 counties and 286 communities in the Fifth District on behalf of Congressman King. Prior to joining Congressman King’s staff, Ehler served in various positions with the City of Holstein, including 25 years as City Administrator. Ehler is a member of the Iowa League of Cities Hall of Fame and has spent years advocating for and working towards a four-lane Highway 20 for western Iowa.

“Dave Ehler has been a tremendous asset both to me and to western Iowa,” King said. “His love for western Iowa has been evident every day he served as District Director for the past seven years. Dave is a tireless advocate for the people and communities that make the Fifth District a great place to live. A Navy veteran with a long career in public service, Dave has made immeasurable contributions to our country, state and district. … Read the Entire Story

Congressman Steve King of Iowa was shocked when he saw what the White House was serving up for dessert.

You can understand how King was surprised when he realized the nerve the White House had to serve chocolate cookies shaped and decorated like acorn nuts at the White House’s annual Christmas party, Monday.

With all the controversy surrounding the ACORN organization, you would think this would be the last thing they would be serving.

With the resolution to shut off funding to ACORN expiring on December 18th, Congressman Steve King took an opportunity to address the issue during a House Judiciary Committee hearing today.

During the meeting King stated,

“…ACORN has corrupted the election process in the United States that it threatens the very Constitution itself.”

In response to Congressman King’s statement, Nadler responded with,

“Congress has done everything it could do against a private organization. We have defunded ACORN. I believe that action is unconstitutional.”

What say you to this statement made by Rep. Jerry Nadler? It appears he is continuing to protect and defend those who have turned the election process of the United States into the laughing stock of the world.

My applause to Rep. Steve King of Iowa for once again taking a strong stance against those who continue to attack our once respected voting process.

Looking back (video from November 21, 2009) when King discusses issues of Conyers and Nadler protecting, defending, and even providing legal advice for the ACORN organization to sue the federal government…

This is a huge victory for those of us interested in a transparent government. For this, I offer my sincere applause to the House of Representatives for taking these tremendous steps in providing this information to the Citizens of the United States of America.

A statement by Congressman Steve King reads,

“When the government is spending your money, I believe it should be fiscally disciplined and held accountable. The best way to achieve accountability is transparency. Congress should be as transparent as possible with the American public.

“I am glad these statements of disbursements are finally online. It is a significant step towards transparency, but I think they should go a step further. We need full disclosure of Members’ exact asset/liability values on their financial disclosures, instead of vague ranges. We also need all privately-funded Member travel, current House floor debate, and all bills and amendments fully disclosed on the internet in a form that can be easily searched, sorted and downloaded by the

Those who seem to think that the government provides all the answers will be really impressed with the interesting figures to come from Iowa’s Fifth District.

Congressman Steve King came out with reports, today, on the number of jobs created in his Fifth Congressional District of a whopping 157.3 jobs. If you think that is impressive, I know you are going to love the cost of $135,670,954 to create all those jobs. This figures out to be an impressive $862,498 per job created by the liberal stimulus. Now that’s government efficiency for you. I don’t know about you but I am sure glad that our children’s children will be stuck paying for so few jobs created at such great an expense.

King made the following statement on the issue:

“Perhaps the Obama Administration should award stimulus-funded prize money to any Iowan who can find the 7th, 8th, 16th, 17th, 19th, 24th and 31st Iowa Congressional Districts.

“I said it at the time this bill passed, and I will say it again: the Obama Administration’s economic philosophy is straight out of the failed Great Depression-era playbook. Increasing government spending, debt, deficits and taxes as a means to stimulate the economy has

The DOJ has now decided it is far more intelligent than any black voter, in it’s latest racially and politically motivated decision to overstep local decisions to do away with party affiliation of candidates. Many local and federal politicians “…would like the city to challenge the decision in court. They say voter apathy is the largest barrier to black voters’ election of candidates they prefer and that the Justice Department has gone too far in trying to influence election results here.” As seen in the Washington Times article.

Iowa Congressman Steve King, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, responded yesterday to a recent Department of Justice decision overruling a 2008 ballot initiative in Kinston, NC which eliminated party affiliation of candidates in local elections and was supported overwhelmingly by local voters. According to the Washington Times, “The Justice Department’s ruling, which affects races for City Council and mayor, went so far as to say partisan elections are needed so that black voters can elect their ‘candidates of choice’ – identified by the department as those who are Democrats and almost exclusively black.”

In his letter to Conyers, King points out a report which was released on July 23, 2009 where the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform detailed a “criminal enterprise and its illegal activities”, according to King.

The contents of Congressman Steve King‘s letter read,

“As you know, I am concerned about facts related to the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN). I request that the Judiciary Committee hold congressional hearings and conduct a complete and comprehensive full committee investigation into ACORN and its affiliates.

ACORN is operating as a criminal enterprise and committing illegal and fraudulent activity. I have repeatedly called for a congressional investigation into ACORN, but publicly available information about ACORN’s criminal acts has been ignored by liberals in Congress and the mainstream media. On July 23, 2009, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released a detailed report on this criminal enterprise and its illegal activities. That same day, you agreed to read the report during our colloquy on the House floor.

Congressman Steve King, of Iowa, came out with a strong statement today regarding Senator Harry Reid’s willingness to stand behind ACORN while rejecting GOP calls for a full investigation into the organization that has been surrounded in so many scandals and corruption.

Representative King has been at the forefront with numerous blocked attempts of trying to have ACORN removed from any federal funding as well as requests to have the organization from being involved with the 2010 Census. Who has been blocking the Congressman’s efforts? You might just recognize the name, Nancy Pelosi.
With today’s latest press release, Rep. Steve King does not let us down with his strong statements against what can be considered a web of corruption.

“The interlocking financial connections between ACORN and its affiliate organizations are rife with waste, fraud and abuse, yet ACORN has never been investigated by Congress because of ACORN cronies like Harry Reid. How much more evidence does Harry Reid need to initiate investigations into this partisan criminal enterprise?

The issues surrounding the organization called, ACORN, have been coming under heavy debate for the past few years with many accusations and even prosecutions regarding voter fraud by individuals working for them.

Congressman Steve King, of Iowa, has been heading up efforts to remove ACORN from receiving any federal taxpayer dollars for several months now with many backing him up with strong urges to audit the organization to find out what exactly they have been doing with the millions the organization has received in taxpayer dollars. Nancy Pelosi has blocked House attempts to bring forth investigations into the organization six times.

In a September 10, 2009 press release, Steve King states,

“Taxpayers should be outraged that their money has gone to an organization that, in addition to facing charges of voter fraud and tax violations, is willing to facilitate prostitution,” King said. “As this video confirms, ACORN continues to operate as a criminal enterprise. Nancy Pelosi, John Conyers, Barney Frank and other Democrats on Capitol Hill continue to protect and fund ACORN while blocking Congressional hearings on ACORN’s operations and finances. Shielding ACORN from oversight ensures that this partisan criminal enterprise will continue its shady practices while collecting taxpayer funds.”
