Monks in Louisiana face jail time if their company, Saint Joseph Woodworks, was to sell their handmade caskets in the state of Louisiana.
The Institute for Justice has accepted the case request by Abbot Brown and his fellow monks to provide them with the authority to sell their caskets within the state of Louisiana. Currently the monks, who have been established in the Gulf South since 1889, are under threat of hefty fines or even jail time for selling their caskets due to protectionism laws put into place by state legislature to protect the funeral cartel of Louisiana.
Current Louisiana law makes it legal to bury the human body straight into the ground or you can also wrap a body in a bed sheet to bury the deceased. Making your own casket or one made by someone else is also… Read the rest
Has New York City Forgotten?
By · CommentsI remember Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. There was righteous indignation in the heart of every American. We became a country molded by tragedy, bound by one cause, to defeat the enemy that caused the tragedy. Not a community in this country was untouched by World War 2. Yet, what was done had to be righted because the enemy we fought was determined to subjugate the world to their will. Hitler had taken over every part of Europe except, England. They almost defeated, Russia. Japan ruled most of China and Burma. Most of the Pacific Islands were under Japanese domination. Had we not entered the fight, the freedom of all people on Earth may have been lost.
You may ask what that has to do with the present? Well, the same principles that created WW2 are present in our struggle against radical Islam. To allow a… Read the rest
Cartoon: Will Obama Ever Bury the Bush Presidency?
By · CommentsIt wasn’t long ago I heard a speech that was given by President Obama to a group of students where he talked about personal accountability. I couldn’t help but to think about this speech and ask myself just how hypocritical this speech was when he has failed to accept the blame for the many current failures of his Presidency while he continues to blame President Bush for all the failures of the current administration.
The following cartoon, provided by Rob Smith, Jr., helps to add some political humor to the issue.

The Threat of Gun Bans Still Lurks Over Us
By · CommentsThe Supreme Court recently upheld the, Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States. That is the Amendment that states, “A well regulated militia, being necessary for the security of a free state, the right of a free people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed”. The vote was on a narrow 5 to 4 margin. That is a very narrow margin. All that has to happen to reverse that right is for some President in the future to appoint another justice who votes against the Second Amendment. Could Elana Kagan be that activist Supreme Court Justice who will aide the President in creating law from the bench?
If the Second Amendment is over turned and the freedom to keep and bear arms is abridged then no longer are any of the amendments of the, Bill of Rights, a sure guarantee. Our rights will no longer be given us by, “Nature’s God” or “Creator” as stated in,… Read the rest
In the tradition of Charlie Daniels, the band known as Kurtis explodes on the scene with the straight forward, plainly country song , I Have A Dream.
A gutsy, no punches pulled song that is touching many a red, white, and blue heart. Simplistically written, with an unmistakably country sound and perfect harmonizing vocals, it is one that gets you tapping your foot, clapping your hands and saying hell yeah. I Have a Dream’s message is simple, America needs to take care of America.
In a phone interview with Shawn Rhem (lead Guitar/vocals), Shawn shared his thoughts on the song. “This song was came to be after hearing so many other songs like Shutting Detroit Down and Red, White, and Pink Slip Blues. I was talking to Eric, who helped me write it, and said, ‘those songs are great, but they are missing the chance to inspire people. We need to do that. ’ It took us six months to get… Read the rest
