Numerous sources are now telling me that Parker County, Texas Precinct 400 Chair, Marvin Herring, has been vocal in telling everyone who will listen that he has now resigned from the Remuda Ranch Estates Homeowners Association Board. Others are saying that they just won’t believe it until they see an official resignation announcement. I did try to contact Mr. Herring about his resignation from the board and was unable to reach him for comment. His resignation is taking place at a time when there is a great deal of pressure in Parker County to resolve the lawsuit brought on by the hoa against Johnnie and Clara Russell (vague updates on this lawsuit available at the bottom of this story).

During our research we were most surprised when we learned that Marvin’s wife, Peggy Herring, just happens to be the Parker County Democratic Party Precinct 400 Chair. Wouldn’t this kind of partnership make for an exciting conversation during your evening meal? We’ve also been told that Mr. Herring proudly voted in favor of a shooting ban ordinance in Parker County in subdivisions with 10 acres or less which put several gun instructors in the county out of business. The ordinance which passed in March of 2009, came after the members of the Remuda Ranch Estates Homeowners Association retaliated after they lost their case against Jack Cavenah who was one such instructor who had a shooting range in his backyard.

Shooting Ban in Parker County, TexasOn March 13, 2009, the Weatherford Democrat reported this on the new ordinance impacting gun rights in Parker County,

“This is absolutely a personal vendetta that Orin Book and the homeowner’s association have against me,” Jack Cavenah said. “They’ve twisted this and made it sound like something it’s not, and all we want is both sides of the story. If they’d whipped us fair and square, that’d be one thing and I’d shut up. But this smells.”

Cavenah claims the court session wherein the ordinance was adopted, was held without giving both sides an opportunity to present their case.

“We had no idea that meeting was happening because the meetings usually happen on Mondays, and this one was on Friday,” he said. “I spoke to both the county judge and Commissioner Jim Webster the week before about this very issue, and neither of them mentioned the meeting to me. They didn’t mention it because they’d already made up their minds and they didn’t want us there telling our side of the story.”

When I spoke with Mr. Cavenah about about this particular issue, he stated,

I still remember what he (referring to Marvin Herring) stood up and said. He said, “This ain’t the wooly west anymore!”

You may recall a previous post where I revealed the hoa board members and Mr. Herring was listed as one of the board members. I will state that I have yet to find an official announcement of Mr. Herring in regards to his resignation from the Remuda Ranch Estates HOA. I have also learned that the Precinct 400 Chair position that Marvin Herring holds is also up for reelection. During my investigation of this story, I had a pleasant conversation with Lynette McCracken about the lawsuit and the many issues with the Remuda hoa. After she had provided me with the issues she was aware of, the conversation switched over to County issues regarding another lawsuit that had taken place where the hoa lost in court. More on this issue at a later date. Once I had a better understanding of the tangled web, I urged Lynette and her friends to get more involved in cleaning up the political landscape in Parker County, Texas. A couple of days after our conversation I learned that Lynette had decided to run for the Precinct 400 Chair position against Marvin Herring. I have to commend Mrs. McCracken for stepping up to run for the betterment of Parker County, Texas. Lynette is currently the Communications Representative for the Parker County Tea Party and a member of the Ft. Worth, Texas 912 Project Group.

Don’t hold your breath too long if you think this is all I have as I work to untangle this web of intimidation and corruption. I can assure you there is a lot more where this came from.

Update on the Russell lawsuit:

Since my reporting on Judge Johnson’s surprise and questionable appearance at a local Tea Party meeting, I have no new information on the Russell bond hearing. Clara Russell has also reported to me that their lawsuit, and everything that has been revealed because of it, has been an awakening and she is now making efforts to help clean things up by getting far more involved in their local politics.

I did reach out to Texas State Representative Phil King any comments he might have on this issue. Mr. King’s prompt response was, “It’s ridiculous. No HOA should be able to regulate religious or political speech.  There is no excuse for what has been done to the Russell family. HOAs should focus on large community issues like well paved roads. This was a just a little yard sign.” During a conversation I had with Phil this evening he told me that we was focused on passing legislation that prevents homeowners associations from preventing the freedom of speech which is an important part of our Constitutional Rights.

I have made multiple attempts for a comment from Texas Governor Rick Perry and have yet to receive a response from him on this matter after two weeks.

When Jacob Roecker joined the Army he wasn’t just stepping into a pair of boots, he was stepping into the shoes of the 5 generations who had served before him. Named after a Civil War veteran who was wounded at the battle of Gettysburg and the grandson of a Brigadier General, family expectations exceeded whatever his drill sergeants demanded. Growing up in a patriotic home Jacob remembers being taught to memorize the preamble to the Constitution by the age of seven. Something about those words made a difference.

Making a difference isn’t easy. When the 9-12 Project was announced Jacob saw the principles and values he was taught in the home—the same ones that lead him to success in the military—flash across the TV and Internet. He saw groups forming and people gathering together around a common set of ideals. With three children and one on the way, a wife who worked evenings delivering pizzas to help pay the bills, and living between two rural communities (one of which has the only stoplight for over 10 miles) Jacob felt unable to have any meaningful contribution or hopes of joining any group.

In March of 2010 Jacob was presented with a challenge. It seems the Army was looking for someone to define its Professional Military Ethic through a writing contest. Knowing Jacob to be principled his commander felt it was a good opportunity him to make a difference.

Writing began immediately on what would later become a book called The Kernel. Not only did it define the Professional Military, but offered a construction for ethics that compliments the Army’s current programs and training models. His work lost the contest, but turned a few heads. Among those who took notice was COL Motten, deputy department head of the History Department at the United States Military Academy who offered Jacob a letter of recommendation to work at the prestigious institution.

While The Kernel turned the heads of the brass, Jacob turned his sites on the common Soldier. He saw the greatest need existed with the newest members of the military. To reach them would be a challenge. Instead of a book that lectured them about the principles that made America great, Jacob chose to share those principles the same way his grandfather learned them when he was attending West Point from 1937-1942—letters from home.

Jacob has recently published the first book of a series he calls A Soldier’s Inheritance. 182 pages, the front cover contains a faded image of his grandfather in uniform with the title Your Future Demands Greatness in an elegant white font. The novel is constructed as a series of letters from a father to his son, Joseph. As Joseph joins the Army, dad begins writing him from home teaching lessons about faith, gratitude, hard work, and humility among many other things. At basic training Joseph tries to call home believing he’s tried enough to justify quitting. Dad responds with this timeless advice, “Son, you only need to find one reason not to quit, and once you do, hold onto it. One reason not to quit is more than a million reasons to stop.”

Arty Wayland, a fellow 9-12er was asked to contribute a review,

“While I am still in the process of crafting my official response to this book, I will tell you that I could only read a letter or two per night. I was so deeply touched by such a “family” atmosphere that I was literally moved to tears most nights while reading. I cannot tell you how important I believe this book, these letters, to be for Soldiers, Civilians, and America.”

During production Jacob discovered that there were no publishers who knew how to market to the military willing to take on new books. So he’s self published what’s being presented as “the first book written for the American Soldier in more than a generation.” Jacob has partnered with Operation Care Package, who is willing ship any books donated to Soldiers deployed overseas—the book’s target audience.

Available for Kindle, Nook, and at Amazon (will be by Saturday), Your Future Demands Greatness: A Soldier’s Inheritance (Volume 1)
is not only a great read, but a great example of a 9-12er committed to making a difference.

The American Majority Post-Party Summit is a carefully developed program to assist citizen patriots with training, tools, resources and a professional support network to assist Tea Party and 912 Project groups with everything they need to take an active roll in all things political.

The event began Friday evening with American Majority President Ned Ryun speaking on the many issues currently affecting America’s political environment. One of the main points being addressed by Ryun seemed to be the progressive infection that has consumed much of the Democratic and Republican parties and the need for citizens to remove this infection from both parties.

Ned was followed by Chairman and CEO of Sam Adams Alliance, Eric O’Keefe, who has been properly presented as a man who is none other than a walking encyclopedia. I’ve been fortunate enough to have been able to talk with Eric on a couple of occasions and can’t help but to walk away from each and every conversation with an impressive expansion of knowledge from every subject we discussed.

Trent Seibert (shown in image below) and Earl Glynn present Investigative Journalism 101 and 210 to provide a powerful set of tools to investigate everything political. I spoke to several people who attended the journalism workshops and each and every one of them found the resources provided them to be some of the best tools being made available to them to follow the flow of money to and from their politicians, organizations, and maybe even a union or two.

Social Networking Workshops were instructed by American Majority’s Kansas Deputy Director, Beka Romm, where she provided the class with a vast number of networking tools to help them build and maintain a network of like minded people as they grow their political involvement. Twitter, Facebook, and Google were just some of the web resources covered during the two one hour long classes. Following the workshop, Beka explained to me that American Majority’s own Austin James had actually developed the well professionally presented class.

Dana Loesch, popular St. Louis radio talk show host, graced those in attendance with her powerful speaking abilities, shortly after lunch on Saturday. Dana has been a guest on FOX News and some other main stream media outlets that I won’t mention today to prevent souring this particular article.

I had the great pleasure of chatting with Bill Hennessey, author of Zen Conservatism, late Friday night over a couple of beverages. The conversation covered many political issues affecting the St. Louis area and some of the fantastic things their teams are doing in the area. As you can imagine our conversation went well beyond those affecting just St. Louis. Mr. Hennessey also instructed a workshop on Zen Conservatism.

The President is schedule to speak at 1 PM on Thursday at the University of Iowa and patriots are coming to meet him from all over Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, and other states are currently working out plans to attend.

The groups will be coming together at the University of Iowa Field House with the rally scheduled to begin at 12 noon in opposition to the recently passed health care bill and a number of the other legislative promises put forth by the current administration.

A number of people have been addressing their concerns with me regarding the mixing of politics and the Tea Party or 912 Project Groups.

The issue isn’t about the groups assisting members in vetting candidates or providing candidates with a platform to let people know their positions on the issues, which I think we can all agree is an important next step in this movement. Rather, the issues stem around group leaders being candidates or being involved in campaigns. Not only is this against the basic principles of the grass roots movement, in some cases it might even become a legal issue.

One particular group that has been brought to my attention, is one located in the SW region of which I was informed the leader is running as an actual candidate. It took less than five minutes for us to dig up potentially damaging information for the Tea Party Group and the candidate. It was also questioned whether the individual was using their position to move donations to their group over to their campaign. This is in no way acceptable if contributors are not informed of this. I’m not bringing this issue to light to cause controversy. It is my intention to save the grass roots movements from receiving undeserved black-eyes from a few rogue individuals and/or groups with adverse agendas.

I’m sure we have all been seeing the reports of the IRS hiring a large number of agents for this tax season. This should be warning enough for you to pay careful attention to everything we do. I have no doubt there will be many audits for those in the conservative movement and new organizations will be likely to draw their attention.

If you truly care for the movement and the progress the movement has made, I would strongly recommend individuals respectfully bow out of the groups to keep the whole movement strong and to prevent unwanted controversy. Remember, the movement is not about you or your personal gain. It is actually all about the exact opposite. Both the Tea Party and 912 Project movements are about a group of people who wish to do the right thing and bring our government back to being one of “We The People”.

The Senate race in Massachusetts involving Scott Brown and Martha Coakley has spurred tea party and 912 project groups to begin vetting potential candidates for a variety of seats to be filled in their regions of the country.

Whether you want to call it a “Hob Nob” or an “Informed Voters Forum“, it is an attempt to permit candidates with the opportunity to present themselves and their positions on the issues for the tea party and 912 project group members to decide for themselves who they will be supporting in the many upcoming elections as the citizens of America decide whether to put America before their parties. Candidate vetting processes continue to be a critical tool as we strive to bring U.S. politics back to it’s people and remove the flow of corruption.

A very active group, The Orlando Tea Party, has just put out a press release to announce their Hob Nob event.

ORLANDO TEA PARTY HOSTS CANDIDATE HOB NOB

Candidates will go head to head in a straw poll

ORLANDO — The Orlando Tea Party and the Tea Party Patriots Live radio show will be hosting a candidate hob nob event at Orlando City Hall at noon on Saturday February 13, 2010. The Tea Party vote will be critical in the upcoming election and the straw poll will give the candidates, media, and the public a chance to find out where the tea party vote is at this time.  The Tea Party Hob Nob will also be a great chance for Tea Party activists to get to know more about the candidates and ask them questions about policy directly.
