On Power- Part 1 of 3
Posted by: | CommentsThe Power of Persuasion, or the Persuasion of Power?
I use that heading in homage to the resignation of Andy Stern, the head of ACORN’s labor-relations alter-ego, SEIU. He advocated opting for the latter.
We, my friends, must choose one or the other. They cannot both exist simultaneously within a single ideology.
The brushfires of Liberty spoken of so long ago by Samuel Adams have again been kindled in our great nation. The message of Liberty is alive and well, and just as capable of persuading the public in 2010 as it was in 1775. Naturally, believing this, I am vocally supporting using the power of persuasion.
The story I am about to relate comes from very close to my home, but I am not getting into the weeds here. There is a larger (and extremely important) overall point to this, so please bear with me for a few paragraphs.
Here in the 5th Congressional District of Virginia, the revolution has begun, and it is not a pretty sight to behold. I am speaking of a series of elections that are currently taking place to select unit chairs, on the county, large city, and district levels, in the Republican Party.
One such election took place in Campbell County last week, and the sitting Republican chairman was rejected, by a small margin, in favor of fresh blood. The new chairman happens to be aligned with the TeaParty Movement, while the GOP establishment and even the current Virginia Lieutenant Governor endorsed the outgoing chair.
The same exact scenario unfolded in Bedford this past Monday, except that the margin of victory was not even close. The new chairman won 220-105.
This same outcome has, so far, played out in 12 local units. And you can expect encore performances, all across the country, as TeaParty groups become more active on their local political battlefields.
However, the fallout will be just as similar. I witnessed an event Monday night that sent cold chills to my bones. As the new unit chair took to the podium to thank the voters and accept his post, two entire rows of people (about 35, in all), stood up, as a block, and filed out of the auditorium.
Whatever your alignment, TeaParty or party-line, this is an egregious display of bad form.
But it should surprise no one.
The sad fact is this: power does corrupt. And when power is stripped from those who have proven (over and over) that they cannot be trusted with it, they will lash out. Whether it is the controlling party in a governing body, or an unpaid volunteer leading a small local unit, they have gone to great lengths to secure and maintain their modicum of power, and their sphere of influence is jealously guarded.
Just as the local party elites have shown their true colors when faced with their own mortality (in terms of influence), so, too, will the power-brokers inside the 495 beltway jealously guard the power they have amassed, as we the people assert our own authority under the banner of the 10th Amendment. And they will lash out, savagely, at all who oppose.
But we must be prepared for this, and these battles must be waged, for our success or failure there will ultimately predict the outcome of the revolution as a whole.
In short, we must take bold and decisive action to curb the confiscation of our liberty and financial security, but we must recognize that it is the usurpation of our power that has allowed it. And our complacence, by and large, has allowed our power to be taken from us and amassed in a Federal stockpile.
I am an advocate of redistribution, but not in the way our current Federal Feudalists mean it. I believe we need the sort of redistribution that our founders would support: the redistribution of power.
In my next post, I will delve into the strategies that are being used to achieve this goal, and whether they will work. Until then, thanks for reading, and keep up the fight.
Rep. Jerry Nadler Continues to Protect and Defend ACORN
Posted by: | CommentsWith the resolution to shut off funding to ACORN expiring on December 18th, Congressman Steve King took an opportunity to address the issue during a House Judiciary Committee hearing today.
During the meeting King stated,
“…ACORN has corrupted the election process in the United States that it threatens the very Constitution itself.”
In response to Congressman King’s statement, Nadler responded with,
“Congress has done everything it could do against a private organization. We have defunded ACORN. I believe that action is unconstitutional.”
What say you to this statement made by Rep. Jerry Nadler? It appears he is continuing to protect and defend those who have turned the election process of the United States into the laughing stock of the world.
My applause to Rep. Steve King of Iowa for once again taking a strong stance against those who continue to attack our once respected voting process.
Looking back (video from November 21, 2009) when King discusses issues of Conyers and Nadler protecting, defending, and even providing legal advice for the ACORN organization to sue the federal government…
Absentee Ballot Fraud in New Jersey?
Posted by: | CommentsReports are coming out of possible absentee ballot fraud taking place in New Jersey. This morning, Big Government .com, came out with reports of funny business taking place in New Jersey in an effort to steal the election for the highly unpopular Governor Jon Corzine.
Some interesting statements from BigGovernment.com, show possible ties leading back to ACORN and SEIU:
“GOP officials recently received a phone tip from a hospital in Newark, reporting that people in ACORN t-shirts were in the facility signing up and collecting absentee ballots.”
“There are reports out of Camden, New Jersey that voters are discovering that absentee ballots have already been submitted under their name. They did not authorize these ballots.”
Big Government releases ACORN Video from Philadelphia, PA
Posted by: | CommentsJames O’Keefe fires back at the lies about his and Hannah‘s visit to the Philadelphia, PA ACORN office, with his latest post on Big Government and the video included with that post. So when will the real truth be revealed? Note that the title to James’ release has part 1 with promises to release the entire video soon. The organization has recently filed several lawsuits against individuals in efforts that are assumed to be intimidation tactics that they have been known to use to build ACORN to be the powerful organization it is today.
Developing Story: Rathke Allegedly Embezzled $5 Million from ACORN
Posted by: | CommentsNew reports are coming out about just how much money, Dale Rathke, may have embezzled from the community organizing group ACORN. This story initially broke on The Times-Picayune with a report of the Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell issuing a subpoena, on Monday, requesting document from Citizens Consulting Inc. and from various accounting and legal consultants in New Orleans.
The following statement, taken from the subpoena, really explains the reasoning for the new investigation.
“Current high-ranking members of ACORN have publicly acknowledged that embezzlement did in fact occur, but the exact amount of the embezzlement was unknown until it was recently acknowledged in a board of directors meeting on Oct. 17, 2008, by Bertha Lewis and Liz Wolf that an internal review had determined that the amount embezzled was $5 million,… “
Wait a second! Did they say recently acknowledged while the board of directors meeting took place on October 17, of 2008? That was just shy of being a year ago and yet leaders of ACORN, current and past, have still maintained that it was only $1 million in a number of recent statements. Bertha Lewis, ACORN Chief Executive Officer, still claims the newly reported amount is “completely false.” I’m just wondering what her statement will look like if it is indeed discovered that the $5 million embezzlement number proves to be true.
The subpoena also states,
“It is still unclear if some of the monies embezzled are from state, federal or private funds.”
Former ACORN employee turned whistleblower, Anita MonCrief, worked closely with New York Times reporter Stephanie Strom last year before the editors of the Times chose not to run the story with the Election soon approaching. Anita informed Strom that the real figure of embezzled funds by Dale Rathke was $5 million instead of the admitted $1 million.
Many accusations have been made as to why the Times chose not to run the story with the soon approaching Presidential Election. With the NYTimes being a heavy supporter of the Obama Campaign, it was suspected that maybe they were afraid it would bring a black eye to the then Candidate Barack Obama. Other stories believe that maybe someone from his team advised the Times to not run the story because of his past ties with the community organization.
Michelle Malkin thoroughly points out some of the details as this story has progressed.
Other recent news surrounding the ACORN organization involves the organization putting it’s New Orleans office up for sale after the IRS and state filed tax liens of $548,000 and $26,026 against ACORN in New Orleans. They are said to be moving their headquarters to their Washington, DC office. Do you suppose they are making this move to be closer to the many politicians who have protected them and continue to protect them?
More Nuts (Acorn) in the Obama Administration
Posted by: | CommentsOnce again this administration is in bed with ACORN and their bag of nuts. This time it is Sara Hogan who is the Obama administration’s Director of the Office of Personnel. Sara used to work with the White House’s Political Director Patrick Gaspard.
From the Washington Post
“Howard and Gaspard both worked for Americans Coming Together (“ACT”) in 2004. In that year, ACT sent out a sensational, hate filled political flier showing white men spraying black people with fire hoses in the sixties. The ACT flier claimed Republicans were trying to intimidate blacks into not voting.”
And, according to REDSTATE
“If ACORN, the Working Families Party, or the SEIU wanted a jobs program at the White House, they have a ready outlet with Gaspard as the Political Director and Nancy Hogan as the Director for the Office of Personnel.
Hogan was the Obama campaign’s Northeast Political Director working in Brooklyn. Bertha Lewis’s contacts list has that information for Hogan, but the contacts list also contains Nancy Hogan’s cell phone number.”
For a complete run-down on these ties check out the article from 24thState
I do not understand how these people are getting appointed to these positions. I feel anyone and everyone in this administration should go through a vetting process. I know they tried this in the Senate and of course the Democrats blocked the bill. With all the corruption running rampant through Acorn no one with Acorn ties, either now or in their past, should be in this or any White House’s Administration.
