How Could Owning a Gun Prevent You from Getting Healthcare? (Updated)
Posted by: | CommentsWe are all quite aware that the Baucus healthcare bill passed through the Senate Finance Committee with promises to increase your healthcare costs and your taxes. Fortunately, the President still does not have the 60 votes needed to make his nationalized healthcare reform pass through as law.
There are still a number of serious concerns lurking around this whole issue. One of the biggest would be the question of just how much health care would increase
under the recently passed Baucus bill? One estimate produced by, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, shows that the new legislation could cost the average household of four an estimated $26,000 more per year. That’s right! That is $26,000 that could have been used to purchase firearms and ammunition and instead will be going to support the mandated Obamacare.
What you aren’t seeing in the news is that the nationalized healthcare legislation could very easily be refused to you if you are one of the hundreds of thousands who are gun owners and Second Amendment supporters. No matter which bill you are looking at, there will be a national database which will contain your personal and medical details. It has been reported through a number of sources that medical questionnaires have already been including questions asking if you own guns, along with many other questions that do not pertain to your health. It is the belief of many that these questions have been posed in preparation of the national database.
Reports from GOA have already alerted members of discrimination against gun owners having already occurred by the homeowner insurance industry.
“Gary Atkinson, a South Carolina businessman and Del Bruno, a Connecticut cop, have had a common problem. When their insurance companies found out that they were involved with guns, they had their insurance coverage canceled.”
“After some research, Atkinson learned that State Farm has canceled other people in other parts of the country. It seems they have — for the agents — a permissive policy. If the agent wants to cancel a gun owner, they can do so at their own discretion.”
Now, Gun Owners of America comes out with,
“…proposed healthcare legislation would compile the information of Americans into a government database. The group says that by using this data, the government could deem a citizen “medically unfit” to carry a gun.
“All of the proposals that we’re aware of would handle people’s health data that way,” said Larry Pratt, executive director of the group.
“And then you end up having a gazillion people lose their gun rights because of some medical record that someone doesn’t like, where they say, ‘Oh, that might be a danger to their self or others.’ No trial, no due process, just gone.”
It seems to me that gun owners now have many more reasons to take a stand against the proposed healthcare legislation with the potential for their Second Amendment rights to come under even greater attack.
Tea Party Patriots hold a Funeral Procession for Proposed Health Care Reform
Posted by: | CommentsFlorida Tea Party groups have been helping to spread the word about the proposed Health Care Reform by holding funeral processions to help bring the issue to the attention of people who have not been seeing this on their normal major media sources. Below is an explanation of one such event.
Curt B. of Florida explains, “Just got back from a Health Care Caravan Funeral Procession around the city. We got a fantastic reception from people we passed.
So many of them waved at us enthusiastically and when we stopped at a light or slowed down in the car park areas they told us how much they appreciated what we are trying to do. It made me feel very patriotic and seemed so much more constructive than just standing on the sidewalk.”
Curt B. continues by saying, “I think we got peoples attention everywhere and hopefully they will start thinking about the issues we have today. I encourage every one of you to check out this video (shown below) of a funeral procession and just go ahead and try one of your own. You will not believe how much it will achieve !!
We found that this was FANTASTIC for seniors who can’t stand very long at a normal rally (A SEIU/ACORN thug can’t intimidate a senior in a lincoln town car or van).
It was very easy to setup and fun to do. We went about 25 – 30 miles on the busy streets and it took a couple of hours. Anywhere from 10 to 30 cars works well. Use your imagination to dress them up.
We try and do this every week on Saturday or Sunday. The more that groups do this the more attention we will get to our cause. STOP THE TAKE OVER OF HEALTHCARE. We are all in this together and we are getting stronger everyday. Our friends in S. Pinellas made the video of their procession about a week ago. This would be a great video demonstration to show what a health care reform funeral procession is like. “

Iowa Senator Tom Harkin holds Town Hall in Des Moines, Iowa
Posted by: | CommentsArticle updated August 8, 2009, to add videos of the meeting.
Iowa Senator Tom Harkin held a town hall meeting in Des Moines, Iowa today with a packed crowd. Some people were supporters of the health care reform and others were strongly opposed to what they consider to be a government takeover of 1/6 of the United States economy.

Iowa Senator Tom Harkin
The meeting began at 2:00 pm today, August 8, 2009, and was planned to last for one hour. After reading the transcripts, I have come to the conclusion that Tom Harkin continues to be in complete denial of the contents of health care reform plan. On the other hand, I do have to compliment Senator Harkin for standing in front of his constituents and doing a good job of controlling the potentially hostile situation.
Transcripts from Radio Iowa Blog provide in depth details of the town hall meeting. The meeting began with Senator Harkin making the following statement:
“As we have seen in recent days, opponents are pulling out all the stops to kill the reform effort. This is a shame because as you know all too well the status quo is broken,” Harkin said near the beginning of his opening remarks. “…The press just asked me about all the consternation and I said, ‘Well this is good. The country should know about this. It should be fully debated and aired.’ But I said there is a lot of misinformation out there…You’re going to see a lot of effort by powerful interests to twart the change that we are trying to make in health care and that’s understandable. There’s a lot of money at stake here.
Time and time again, the Senator referred to the anger opposing the reform bill as being driven by special interest money. Why don’t we take a look at the special interests who are backing this ridiculous plan? With all the special amendments in the health care reform bill, it is safe to say there are plenty of special interest monies driving for the passing of this plan, just like there are some opposing it. I know that there is money being spent to build opposition. However, I have met many of the people in attendance at his meeting and I can assure you that the majority were sincere in their concerns of the government’s tendencies to fail at everything they do. It does not take much effort at all to just look around at all the failed government programs. Medicare is broke, medicaid is broke, and social security is not far from it. Just look at the latest issues with the inefficiencies of the United States Postal Service causing it to be broke.
Why do people have the belief that all these programs are operated on the Government’s money when it is actually our money? It’s the money of We the People of the United States of America! Get it? It’s your money, people.
The Senator also commented on his serving in the military and having fought for our freedoms. My plea to you, Senator Tom Harkin, is for you to once again make that fight for our freedoms by resisting the drive for a nationalized health care reform bill. Most are in agreement that the system needs to be fixed and many have offered logical solutions that do NOT include a government takeover.

AARP Meeting in Dallas on August 4, 2009, Speaker Walks Out on Meeting
Posted by: | CommentsAll over America AARP members are walking away from the organization due to leaders of the group continuing to try to convince members that supporting President Obama’s National Health Care Reform plan is will benefit them.
Not all members of AARP agree think that such a program will benefit senior citizens, as expressed in the video taken during an AARP town hall meeting in Dallas (see video below). Pay close attention to the lady at the 4:41 point and her analysis of why health care costs have skyrocketed over the past 10-20 yrs. She explains that there might actually be some comparisons between the out of control costs and the explosion of illegal immigrants in the United States.
AARP Town Hall Meeting on Health Care – Dallas, August 4, 2009
Oddly, the Glenn Beck Show on FOX News had AARP spokesman, David Certner on that same night. During the interview, David repeatedly tried to explain the benefits of the Health Care Reform bill as proposed by lawmakers. As you might expect, Glenn saw right through the sales pitch and provided his own detailed information of the negative effects that this Bill would have on our senior citizen population.
Senior citizens, With a group like AARP looking out for you and your well being, who really needs enemies. I’m not going to tell you to cancel your membership, but I will tell you that I know many who have done just that. And, if I were old enough to be a member, I would have NO interest in supporting them with my membership dues. What’s even more important than the dues is the numbers game. They use the large numbers of their membership to influence laws (as mentioned by David during Beck’s interview), some of which might not have your best interests in mind.
President’s Weekly Address, Economy and Health Care Reform, on Saturday August 8, 2009
Posted by: | CommentsPresident Barack Obama’s weekly address begins by downplaying the loss of a mere 247,000 jobs in the month of July.
On Friday, we received better news than we expected about the state of our economy. We learned that we lost 247,000 jobs in July – some 200,000 fewer jobs lost than in June, and far fewer than the nearly 700,000 a month we were losing at the beginning of the year.
He continues on with his usual discussion on rebuilding America with his ideas of already failed concepts. When I say failed concepts, I mean the exact same socialistic concepts that have or are currently failing in many countries and are currently under massive reform.
Still, this month’s jobs numbers are a sign that we’ve begun to put the brakes on this recession and that the worst may be behind us. But we must do more than rescue our economy from this immediate crisis; we must rebuild it stronger than before.
As he continues on, he begins addressing the Health Care Reform issue that has so many Americans, young and old, up in arms about the Government controlling 1/6 of the United States economy. He is sure to add the names of some large organizations currently supporting this reform. My thoughts are, if you are a member of any of these organizations and they are standing for something you DON’T believe in, let them know or even consider removing yourself from their membership ranks to help them get the point.
The AARP supports reform because of the better care it will offer seniors. And the American Nurses Association and the American Medical Association, which represent the millions of nurses and doctors who know our health care system best, support reform, as well.
As the President continues, he spins the opposition of his National Health Care Reform as being driven with misleading information by those who don’t want to see this takeover take place. Well, Mr. President, from the town hall videos I’ve seen, the questions and issues I’ve seen being asked are from information taken directly from the Bills they’ve been reading. What I hear you saying is that you don’t like an America that is more informed than your uninformed lawmakers.
As we draw close to finalizing – and passing – real health insurance reform, the defenders of the status quo and political point-scorers in Washington are growing fiercer in their opposition. In recent days and weeks, some have been using misleading information to defeat what they know is the best chance of reform we have ever had.
President Obama continues to state his case with his constantly repeated rhetoric. Sorry sir, but you just keep on fighting back on these few issues and these issues have been taken directly from Bill’s that are currently being considered. As to the issue about this reform not being about Government takeover of our health care. With all due respect, that is a flat out lie! You and others have been documented as admitting that this is the first step in a single payer system. Out of respect for the top position in this great nation, please honor it (if you can) with the respect that position is due and tell Americans the truth not rhetoric.
So, let me explain what reform will mean for you. And let me start by dispelling the outlandish rumors that reform will promote euthanasia, cut Medicaid, or bring about a government takeover of health care. That’s simply not true. This isn’t about putting government in charge of your health insurance; it’s about putting you in charge of your health insurance. Under the reforms we seek, if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan. So, let me explain what reform will mean for you. And let me start by dispelling the outlandish rumors that reform will promote euthanasia, cut Medicaid, or bring about a government takeover of health care. That’s simply not true. A short response from me: The truth is that most American’s believe that health care reform is indeed needed. The problem arises when you interject special interest needs and socialist ideas into a country founded upon the idea of freedoms. You are use to good hearted Americans and their families being busy with their everyday lives and not taking interest in politics as usual. Now that these same people have taken interest and are taking it upon themselves to be informed, you and those who put you into power, don’t have a clue how to work with the old politics as usual since the since the take your medicine and deal with it is no longer working. Lawmakers might as well get use to the uprising of citizens taking interest and being informed. I, for one, would like to personally thank you for getting myself and the millions of other proud, patriotic, and conservative Americans to wake up and take a stand for what is right. And your socialist ideas are not what is right for America! You can slant the word conservative all you want. The fact is that both Democrats (Not liberally hijacked democrats) and Republicans can and are conservative.

As to the issue of calling out of your dogs, SEIU Union thugs and your ACORN members. Before the position of the President of the United States is completely disrespected by such behavior. I think it would be wise to call off these thugs to prevent more events from taking place like the ones in St. Louis, MO and Tampa, FL. Hostile intimidations tactics will work against you, and your agendas, and will even build a greater level support from Americans when it is fully exposed where these marching orders came from.

Senator Tom Harkin to attend Festa Italiana in Des Moines, Iowa on August 2
Posted by: | CommentsIt has been brought to my attention that Senator Tom Harkin will be attending the Festa Italiana in Des Moines, Iowa on Sunday, August 2, 2009.

Iowa Senator Tom Harkin
The event is sponsored by The Society of Italian Americans, with the event location being 1801 S.W. McKinley.
Admission to the event is free with a cash donation for the MDA.
Enjoy food, music, and the outdoor festival and the opportunity to let Senator TomHarkin know what you think of his support for the National Health Care Reform Bill. It is believed that he will be speaking around 12:00 PM.
He has also been responding to concerned Iowans with letters stating that 83% of Iowans want Health Care Reform. This may be true in some form. However, every Iowan I have spoken with don’t want anything to do with the National Health Care Reform Bill that is being presented by President Obama’s administration and Liberals.
