Press Release: For Immediate Release

THEAmericanDriveIn.com brings accountability to the new congress.

On January 5th 2011 THEAmericanDriveIn will be coming to Washington, DC. And we are bringing Gridlock with us.

Washington, DC, December 19, 2011: Out of control spending, out of control congress. Only a partisan leftwing media would assume the overwhelming Republican victory in November was a call for bipartisan compromise. The American People are spoiling for a fight. We prefer Gridlock to more debt. We would rather sit in DC traffic than in an ObamaCare waiting room.

In 1994 we gave the Republicans an opportunity to make a difference in DC. Instead we witnessed one compromise, one capitulation after another. Now, after 15 years of political posturing, after adding $10 TRILLION in debt to future generations, after government doubling in size on their watch, the Republicans in the US House think they are being rewarded with another chance to lead. We are sorry to disappoint, but the grownups are coming to provide adult supervision this time.

An overwhelming majority of Americans opposed the passage of ObamaCare and a strong message sent in November to repeal, not finesse, ObamaCare. We intend to force the Republican House to repeal this unconstitutional monster before doing anything else. Then we will move on to spending, taxes and immigration.

Americans are tired of the business as usual political class, a group more intent on maintaining job security for politicians than fighting for the future of our Republic. We want our country back from the elite political class of whatever party. We sent our gladiators and we expect them to fight for us. If it means a government shutdown, we are going to show them how to shut it down. We are calling on all patriotic Americans to be in DC on January, 5 2011 to participate in a rolling slowdown. We have Driving Routes and guidelines posted. The routes have been selected for maximum effect as the new congress is being sworn in.

Who were the attendees who came from all points of America to participate in the Restoring Honor rally? They were people of many races. They were people of many faiths. They WERE… the kindest and most well mannered people America has to offer.

I have talked to many people who attended Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor rally in Washington, D.C. on 8/28 of 2010 and heard story after story about the compliments they received from workers around the D.C. metro area. They have told me stories about how clean everyone left the grounds. They talked about seeing people reach down and pick up a small piece of paper, maybe a gum wrapper, as the crowd was leaving in everyone’s attempt to leave the grounds as clean, if not cleaner, than they had found it before the crowd came in.

They were complimented time and time again with words like, “we just love it when you people come to town because you are such nice people.” Even with many of the subway escalators being shut down, my friends saw person after person helping the determined elderly folks walk up the stairs from the subways. The city was not only overwhelmed with people from across America, but the city was overwhelmed with love, inspiration, and kindness like the DC seldom sees. And then there are the many other stories that are being heard on Glenn Beck’s Radio and FOX News programs. Like the one of a white family helping a handicapped black woman around for the entire day as both attended Restoring Honor. The story about a ladies husband who had lost his wallet with their conversation being overheard by another family who so generously gave them $400 to make sure they would be alright only to later to be contacted by the police that someone had found their wallet. To their surprise the wallet had all the cash and credit cards still in it.

I could continue with telling you about the people who attend other events, but I am going to leave this article as one of positive content because I want this to be a time of moving forward and reaching out to those who have lost their feelings of love and kindness for whatever reason.

Below is a segment from Glenn Beck’s FOX News program which aired 8-31-2010 that tells of just some of the many acts of kindness found before, during, and after the Restoring Honor rally.

Michael Behenna Update:

To All Michael Behenna supporters,

We travel to Washington D.C. this week to plead Michael’s case before the Army Clemency Board.  We have so much to tell them, but we are given only ten minutes to convey our many thoughts.  Amazingly, Michael’s sentence of 20 years is twice what any other soldier has been sentenced for unpremeditated murder.  It is our hope that the Clemency Board will at the very least bring Michael’s sentence into line with others.  Even better would be if the Board decided to release him pending his appeal.

Lt. Michael Behenna

Lt. Michael Behenna

Michael’s attorney’s filed his appeal on 12/22/09 and their appellate brief gives us great hope the appellate court will need to look long and hard as to whether Michael received a fair trial.  Special focus was put on the prosecution withholding crucial evidence offered by their own expert which could have exonerated Michael on the murder charge.

Your support of Michael during this holiday season has been emotionally and spiritually uplifting. Our son received hundreds of cards that helped him get through this difficult time. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks and keep up your letter writing to the Secretary of the Army, Honorable John McHugh, 1400 Defense Pentagon, Washington, DC   20301-1400. In the end we believe that Michael will prevail.

Of special note is that Michael’s case was selected as #5 in the top ten articles covered by the Court of Appeals of the Armed Forces (CAAF) Blog.  The fact that persons covering military appeals have shown such an interest in Michael’s case helps provide encouragement for those of us that feel Michael’s case is so much more than another war related murder case.

Below are links to articles by the Oklahoman’s Washington Correspondent and a KOCO video concerning the Clemency Hearing:

Thanks again for your overwhelming support of an American soldier we proudly call our son.

CLEMENCY BOARD TO HEAR ADDRESS

Soldier’s mother to plead his case

BY CHRIS CAST

Washington Bureau  ccasteel@opubco.com

WASHINGTON — Vicki Behenna has 10 minutes to plead her son’s case.

Where does she begin?

In the last few months, she has developed hours of arguments about why U.S. Army 1st Lt. Michael Behenna was wrongly convicted of killing a suspected terrorist in Iraq in 2008, why his 20-year sentence for unpremeditated murder was too severe compared to other sentences for the same offense and why the military rules for detaining suspected terrorists make no sense in a combat zone.

She will have to condense all that into a matter of minutes when she appears Thursday before the Army Clemency and Parole Board in Arlington, Va.

Vicki Behenna, of Edmond, is a federal prosecutor — she was part of the team that won conviction of Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh — so she knows something about making concise and cogent arguments in a legal setting. When she appears before the clemency board, though, it will be “as his mom,” she said last week.

She said she has been given 10 minutes to address the board and that she will focus primarily on the length of her son’s sentence for unpremeditated murder. Though she hasn’t been able to find a central data bank of courtmartial sentences, she said the longest other recent sentence she could find for unpremeditated murder in a combat zone was 11 years. Her son originally received a 25-year sentence, which was reduced to 20 years. Michael Behenna, who is 26, is serving that sentence at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

The clemency hearing is just one of the legal routes being pursued by Behenna and her husband, Scott.

Houston attorney Jack Zimmerman recently filed an appeal claiming Michael Behenna’s conviction should be overturned, in part because prosecutors didn’t turn over evidence that would have corroborated Behenna’s story that he shot the victim in self-defense. The evidence was the opinion of a renowned expert on bloodstains.

The Behennas have also enlisted Oklahoma attorneys and elected officials to write letters to military leaders and the clemency board urging that Lt. Behenna’s case be handled fairly and according to legal principles.

The Behennas plan to be on Capitol Hill this week telling Michael’s story. Though Congress is still in recess, the Behennas are hoping to meet with staff members of lawmakers who sit on the Armed Services committees.

Vicki Behenna said congressional panels need to hold hearings on the rules regarding detaining suspected terrorists. Currently, she said, the rules require a suspect to be released unless stringent conditions are met.

Military officials decided those conditions were not met for Ali Mansur Mohamed after Behenna captured him in Iraq with evidence that he had ties to al-Qaida.

Behenna suspected that Ali Mansur had been involved in planting a roadside bomb that killed two members of his platoon and wounded others.

Behenna had arrested Ali Mansur at his home, and Behenna was the one ordered to take Ali Mansur back home when he was released from custody.

Behenna shot and killed Ali Mansur that night after questioning him. Prosecutors said it was an execution; Behenna claimed Ali Mansur had been trying to grab Behenna’s gun.

The case has received national media attention and has been taken up as a cause on some Web sites, including one started by the Behennas called DefendMichael.com; a petition posted on the site seeking a new trial for Lt. Behenna has more than 6,500 signatures.

Bev Perlson, whose son has served four tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and who started a group called Band of Mothers, accompanied Vicki Behenna to lawmakers’ offices on Capitol Hill in early December. Perlson features Lt. Behenna’s case promi   nently on her Web site and said in an interview last week that she is encouraging veterans and others to show up at the hearing on Thursday.

Though the public is not allowed into the hearing, Perlson said it would be an important show of support just to have people outside the building.

“It just breaks my heart what happened to Michael,” she said.

The emergency health care “House Call” held on November 5, 2009 was another huge success for patriots of America. The event was started by concerned Representatives, like Michele Bachmann, Steve King, and Tom Price, as a way for concerned citizens to express their opposition to the Pelosi health care bill. Considering the short notice of only 6 or so days, this event was a huge success as it was attended by proud citizens from across America to rally against the take over of our free and private health care system.

Oddly enough, I happened to be watching MSNBC, for the first time in weeks, as they did actually discuss the event held in Washington. As much as they did surprise me by at least providing coverage of the rally, they did not let down my expectations of their failed reporting when they announced that there were only a few thousand people that attended the event. I’ll let you be the judge of that, as you view the videos that I have included for your viewing pleasures.

As you view the videos, please take a moment to give them a 5 star positive rating to offset the liberal attacks trying to bring their ratings down.

As the controversy continues over many pressing issues affecting Americans of all party affiliations, another great video of the 9-12 DC March on Washington has surfaced.

Many patriots step up to the mike and tell just why they came all the way to Washington (without being paid, I might add) for this event that was attended by people of all colors and nationalities. At about the 1:37 minute point in the video you will even meet a gentleman who is from Melbourne, Australia. As he is being interviewed he compliments Americans on a job well done with hopes that Australia might learn something from this successful event.

Thanks to reader, Bonnie Mc, for making the video and sharing it with us.

Another video I stumbled upon would be one featuring the National Anthem being sung by approximately 1.5 million Patriots.

You just can’t beat this! (Give this video a few moments to load)
